Co-founders, Matt Johnston and Bob Russell are two creative junkies who share a love for fine craft beer and anything art-related. Not only does this lower their carbon footprint and brew fresher beer, it ensures Collective Arts Brewing is not bound to a single brewery; free to create new �works of beer� by collaborating with amazing brewers and brewmasters. Just like the art that appears on the bottles� labels, Collective Arts Brewing maintains that the beer inside is also a creative statement. Collective Arts Brewing collaborates with the best and brightest up-and-coming brewmasters who constantly create, experiment and push the boundaries of the classic beer styles. The company itself is comprised of a group that come from an eclectic background in the art, music and brewing worlds. As creative director and owner of Russell Branding, a leading North American brand and design firm, Bob created the brands for some of North America�s leading breweries and brings that touch of design and art to the table, while Matt�s 11-year brewing industry veteran status ensures consumers are getting a quality craft brew. Collective Arts Brewing believes in collaboration, which brings out the best ingenuity. Gypsy brewing was the only way to go to highlight the artistry of the brewmasters Collective Arts partners with. Brewmaster-in-residence, Ryan Morrow, is a fine example. Ryan is truly one of Canada�s most innovative brewers. Collective Arts Brewing discovered Ryan though the remarkable beers he brews at Nickel Brook Brewing in Burlington, Ontario. Ryan now divides his time between Nickel Brook, Collective Arts� host brewery, and Collective Arts where he leads the brewing innovation. Ryan�s first challenge was to create Collective Arts Brewing�s flagship beer, Rhyme & Reason Extra Pale Ale. Having experienced some incredible craft beers across North America (with extra appreciation for what is going on in Oregon, Washington, Colorado, California, and Vermont), the team set out to create a well-hopped extra pale ale that is both complex and sessionable. The satisfying result is Rhyme & Reason Extra Pale Ale. Keeping with the easy-drinking theme, Collective Arts Brewing really wanted to create an fruit-infused brew with a twist. Enter Saint of Circumstance, a blonde ale infused with the zest of oranges and lemon citrus fruits, complemented with refreshing hops with citrus profiles. The outcome is a remarkably smooth blonde ale with just the right amount of zing.
