Liquid Art Fest is a Collective Project IPA brewed specifically to celebrate our art, music and brewfest this June. This brew is a tropical, full bodied milkshake IPA showcasing vanilla, mango and passion fruit flavours paired with Simcoe and Citra hops. Don’t plan on seeing through this IPA, it’s hazy due to the Vermont ale yeast, lactose and and fruit puree… resulting in an orange hue reminiscent of a tropical milkshake.

Looks like a combination of orange and mango juices. The bubbly yellowish head fizzes away quick enough, leaving some foamy patches around the collar. Citrus aromas with the juices again, and some hop notes, hints of vanilla. The mangoes come out even more in the taste with the nice light bitterness in the end. The vanilla is really not that strong in here, which most will like, as it can be much, and too rich. Everything is well-balanced. A juicy fest in my mouth.

Can from LCBO. Pours a massive foamy bubbly off-white head that dissipates after a while and leaves nothing behind. Has a super cloudy, slight murky orangey appearance. Basically, looks like a tropical fruit milkshake as the can implies. Somewhat excessive carbonation. Aromas of mango and passion fruit are immediately noticeable, along with lots of other various tropical fruits. Flavours are quite fruity and juicy, from the tropical fruit side. Lots of mangoes, passion fruit, oranges, subtle notes of pineapple and vanilla but more towards the finish. Bitterness overpowers sweetness in this one. Drying mouthfeel. Pretty damn good overall.

The beer pours a solid orange colour with a short-lived pulpy head. The aroma is oranges, mango, and grapefruity hops. If it wasn't for the hoppy aroma, this would look and smell like 5 Alive fruit juice. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a definite low carbonation sensation. The flavour is reminiscent of orange juice that has sat around for a few hours with a bitter hop bite in the finish. This is my first "milkshake IPA" because I have been avoiding the style. Now I know why as my fears were indeed realized.
