Brewed with New Zealand beer legends, Garage Project, we created this Imperial Stout to showcase the finest ingredients from the South Pacific. Adding New Zealand Pinot Noir skins to the finished Imperial Stout, then aging the brew on neutral oak to mimic traditional wine conditioning, imparting soft flavours of oak & vanilla. We then transferred the brew to finish in Tawny Port barrels, developing distinct dark fruit and nutty character. And finally, adding cacao nibs from New Zealand and vanilla beans from the South Pacific, to marry the flavours.

Part of their 2021 Origin of Darkness 4-pack. Dark brown colour with little ruby highlights. The head is mocha-coloured, frothy with decent retention and creamy lacing. Alcoholic and roasted malt base nose. Almond and cacao powder aromas on top of that. More of the Pinot Noir hints, over the Tawny Port. The taste is on the bitter side at first, with this lingering, showing grassiness, over the rest of the main things in here. A woody mouthfeel. More of a red wine Imperial Stout with not so-much cacao and vanilla.
