The vintage port of American stout. A good ale for the cellar. Well suited for November storms and trips across the Sahara.

Now this is some smooth tasting motor oil. I drank two and was not able to to get even the slightest foam of a head. This is a very fine stout and I would recommend to anybody to sample.

Delicious.Personally I rank it much higher than # 8 in the imperial stout category, although there's two higher I haven't tried. Very high quality stuff. Love the flavour and mouthfeel. If the appearance was better it would be close to perfection. Difficult not to chug this one but at 11.5%, maybe I shouldn't.

Thanks Jeff for saving this for two years! Extreme dark brown body with bubbles! Sweet coffee aroma, elements of smoke, burnt marshmallow and soya sauce. Taste is the same! This is high quality shit! This is a massive beer, flavor everywhere. Bitter chocolate dominating finish….more soya sauce….more stuff with flavors that have names. Roasted malts everywhere. Great beer!!! Thanks jeff

Very dark, dark brown nearly black color with a small dark, chocolate milkshake colored head. The head was "tight" and mostly creamy. Did have some nice retention and left some real strong lacing on the glass. Some very nice coffee, espresso notes that smelled somewhat burnt in the nose. Robust. Some noticeable dark choclate in there also. Smells nice and toasty and malty. I kind of get a vanilla bean aroma also. Slight alcohol fragrance, but nothing off putting. The taste was very similar to the smell. Robust, roasty coffee and chocolate. Burnt flavoring with a splash of vanilla. A stronger touch of alcohol in the flavor, but welcome. A nice little burn. Medium/full to mostly full mouthfeel. Smooth. Dry. A lot of flavor left on teh palate. A considerable warmth from the alcohol. Chewy and slightly oily. Slick feeling. This Stout is extremely nice. It's strong, so that may exclude some from liking it and it may hurt with overall drinkability, but it's still very, very good. Worth a try if you are a Stout lover. I know I am so therefore I do love this beer. This beer would be perfect on a cold night by the fireplace just sipping.

It's hard to find anything negative to say about this beer, but if it does have a detraction it would be the cloying mouthfeel. Other than that it's a hit on all fronts, appearance, scent and flavor make this one to try over and over. A good cellar beer as well.

I have drank 3 of them. I am hoping that the next three will somehow get better. as of right now I am thinking this one is over hyped.
Smells of burnt sugar, chocolate, malt, alcohol, coffee and wood. Pours midnight black with little to no head. Full body with a hot finish and less to be desired carbonation. Flavor was hot with roasted coffee, chocolate, some sweetness. The beer was way too hot for me... -

This little treasure appeared on my front porch directly from TN. Alesmith Speedway Stout is the only beer I can think of that might even come close to this. There was unfortunately no head at all from the pour, as I like to see some brown suds on top of a beer so thick and dark. Tons of dark chocolate in the flavor profile, mixed with some burnt coffee, smoke, and something tangy sweet way down on the bottom (kind of like a grapefruit or pineapple chewing gum). Patchy worn-out spiderwebby lacing left on the glass. This is a truly fantastic beer. Wonderfully paired with the turtle (caramel and nuts) brownies I made today. Many many many thanks, Louis!

355 ml bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. ABV 10.5%. Pitch black colour, low head. Strong and intense aroma of heavily roasted malts, cigar box, burnt caramel and oak. Equally strong and intense flavour, again heavily roasted malts, burnt caramel and oak. Pretty impressive stuff.

Pours creamy and pitch black with a mid-sized fluffy head. Aroma is strong of coffee and alcohol. Has the texture of chocolate milk. Taste is good but the alcohol overwhelms it too much. If it wasn't for the strong alcohol taste this would be perfect. Over all good but not great. Will have again.

This beer is highly hyped and very good in general, however, it isn't #19 overall - not even close. This beer tastes very in line with the style but ordinary when compared to a Founders Breakfast Stout or DFH WWS. Will likely only have this again if I am not the one buying it. That being said it is worth a try at least once if you can find it. This beer was a tad sticky for my liking too.
