A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Pours a real dark brown colour, close to black. Creamy-frothy rich beige head, long lasting with some nice creamy lacing. Aromas of warming alcohol at first pour, but disappears quickly leaving some well-blended cocoa, molasses, liquorice, vanilla, chocolate and roasted malts with mild hop bitterness. The taste is where the bourbon oak barrel notes come out over the coffee and chocolate. Some nice dryness and bitterness in the finish. All is so well-balanced with the oat helping. Wow! Quite the nice winter warming Imperial Stout.

The beer pours a solid black colour with a thin creamy light brown head that sticks around for a few minutes. The aroma is on the boozy side with heavy notes of bourbon and oak up front, and subtle hints of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is full bodied and creamy with above average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, coffee, oak and bourbon with some small hints of vanilla seeping through. Definitely too much barrel character for me, but an excellent beer nonetheless.

On tap at Level One, Ottawa. Pours very little head and has a deep dark brown appearance. Still some decent sticky lacing. Aromas of chocolate coffee, huge bourbon notes. Flavours are sweet, chocolate, coffee, some bourbon notes in the finish. For 12.3%, surprisingly alcohol is not too offensive and quite smooth. Slick and oily mouthfeel. Goes down quite well.

Shared 355 ml bottle at local tasting. Pitch black colour, no head. Strong and intense aroma of bourbon / oak / vanilla, nearly hiding the roasty, chocolate and coffee notes in the background. Low carbonation. Sweet and rich flavour, notes of bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate and coffee.

Stopped in my local bar today to find that this had just been tapped as part of 4 Course Founders Breakfast. Pours black with a small dark tan head. Bourbon, roasted malt and chocolate on the nose. WOW! The bourbon again leads the flavor parade along with chocolate, roast malt and a hint of vanilla. Actually ordered my second one (I had 2, that was the limit) while I was still drinking the first one to let it warm up. Wonder, silky mouthfeel that coated my mouth like a blanket. Absolutely Fantastic! This beer lives up to the hype. Pricey, but worth every penny. Highly recommended. I was lucky enough to procure a bottle of this gem and it's been put aside for aging. Can't wait to try it in a year or two.

Black, small light brown lacing foam. Light coffee aroma. Light bitter coffee taste, vanilla tones. Smooth, velvet drink. Really nice beer, thanks to helpfull service at Spec's. (Dallas 201505)

Was just a little disappointed because for the cost the Founders imperial stout. The imperial stout way out classes it. However the taste was good but just a tad to sweet. How ever I'm not condemning it it was good.

Stellar! Deep black-brown pour with a slight head that lingers with a hint of lacing. Roasted malt, vanilla, coffee, bourbon for the nose and pallette - and all perfectly blended for a rich smoothness like no other. Best I've had in a while.

Beer review #2500. KBS. On my Wish List for quite some time. Now it has been tracked down. Heavy black brown pour, little head but a constant cap, lazy lacing. Deep roasted malts, vanilla, coffee, light Bourbon, Blackstrap molasses all in the exquisite nose and palate. Lovely rich and almost creamy stout with deep flavors that captivateleaving one wanting much more and causing one to drink slowly, to savor the goodness, to fully enjoy what is KBS. Finally. (Now I want more...)
