Dark malty, nutty aroma. Deep amber red color. Very nice, thick head. More malty than hoppy, but very nicely balanced. CAn't go wrong with this ale. it's a sturdy, tasty, well-crafted beer.

Still having trouble distinguishing an "amber" from a "red" ale. This has flavors that resemble a red, but more amberish in appearance and strength. Light malt with a clean, fresh hop finish. Crisp and smooth mouthfeel. Better than average, but not really any wow factor here.

Pours a clear, dark mahogany with minimal head, but that may be a result of how it was tapped. Malty aroma has earthy and cinnamon notes. Earthy flavor has a hint of woody hops, plus nutty and cinnamon tones. Texture is fairly fizzy and, though not too firm, not watery either. Overall, a decent brew.

A deep reddish-amber colored beer with a big frothy textured light beige-white head rising above. There's food hang time on the head. It settles into a thick ringlet and persistent cap. A light malty nose. More pronounced in the tasting. Some interesting nutty-fruity-spiciness in the malt with a grassy, faint grapefruit hoppiness. Light, effervescent.

If there ever is a "great" amber ale, this might just be at or near the top of that catergory. A really enjoyable, session beer with enough malt and enough hops to satisy.
The beer pors out a clear dark amber color with a really creamy, 2" off-white cap. The head retained some semblance of thickness during the enjoyment of this beer. Aroma is nicely floral yet sweet, as if trying to attract the hummingbird on it’s label. Nectar is a good name because it has a definite sweet angle, mostly caramel malts. Flavor reminded me of what it would taste like chewing on a rose covered in caramel. Apples, apricots, a touch piney...wonderful taste. A beacon of light in the darkness of ambers. -

there's a quick sweetness to it up front, but that quickly fades and is overpowered by the hops. I'd like it to last just a bit longer, but this is a pretty good beer anyway.

A nice Northern Cali beer. Sampled a few years ago and then had it again. A nice beer with a thin lacey head at pour and appearance is a nice light amber. Mouthfeel is smooth. Flavor is nice a light hoppy sweet flavor.

One of my favorite beers ever and I can't believe I've never rated it before. This beer has it all to me. It has great aroma of malts and toffee and wonderful balance between hops and malts. I can never have enough of this stuff around.

On draft at Half Moon. Poured an orange-ruby color with a nice head and near perfect lacing. The aroma was of light floral, pine, and citrus hops. Flavor brought out a nice balance of all three hop qualities of the aroma along with some grapefruit dominance, while building on a very light caramel base that had some bready notes mixed in. Citrus-like bitter rinds came through as it warmed, creating a nice zip to the finish. Mouthfeel was full bodied for the style, very nice summer beer.

Good looking amber/red coloured ale, small light tan head, retains good lace throughout . It has quite a malty aroma caramel like malts, though the hops are very apparent in the background. Taste? well it starts with a very pleasant sweet honeyish maltiness, which after the initial sip gets rather "toasty and less sweet, the hops appear near the end and lend to a pleasant long lasting aftertaste. Quite good on the tongue above average "fullness" for the style and smooth. I found this ale very drinkable, would indeed make a nice session ale.
