Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7
22oz bottle -
Aroma - roasted malts, roasted almonds and molasses
Appearance - deep chocolate brown body, semi-transparent, 2-finger beige head, big bubbles, light retention/lacing
Flavor - roasted malts right up front, dark chocolate, baker's chocolate bitterness, with a medium sweetness to bind it all together
Overall - this is a BAINO if there ever is one, because it has much more character and complexity than a plain brown ale. Flavorful and it hides the alcohol pretty well. I'd buy again. -
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5
22oz bottle -
Aroma - light caramel and dried peaches
Appearance - golden amber body, clear with a 1-finger white head, light retention and light lacing
Mouthfeel - medium bodied, light carbonation
Flavor - well blanced, but the balance is on the light side of both malts and hops.
Overall - drinkable, a little bland. It would do very well to introduce someone who's never had a APA before to the style as it's far from aggressive. -
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7
22oz bottle -
Aroma - spicy hop, orange juice, wet leaves with a good dose of plain sugar sweet smell
Appearance - hazy pale amber body, 2-finger off-white head, average retention/no lacing
Mouthfeel - medium carbonation, medium mouthfeel
Flavor - well balanced with a nice citrusy/piney hop profile. Sweet malts and in abundant here too, and the high 7% abv is well hidden. Pretty nice. -
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5
22oz bottle -
Aroma - very subdued for a IIPA, floral notes with some light cattyness and hand soap. Had to swirl several times to keep getting notes.
Appearance - burnt amber body, very light haze, 2-finger foamy head, average rentention, light lacing
Mouthfeel - medium carbonation, medium mouthfeel, a touch of alcohol burn
Flavor - caramel malt buries a majority of the hop flavors, but there is some vegetal bitterness in the quick finish. The malt hides the nearly 10% very well.
Overall - a malt bomb that fails to satisfy the hop craving. While far from overly-sweet, it's too unbalanced for my liking in a IIPA. Could have passed for a malty IPA. -
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 5
22oz bottle -
Aroma - big citrusy aroma, full of grapefruit and orange/lemon combo. Malts are there, kept in check but caramel is present.
Appearance - golden yellow body, some haze to it, 4-finger head, above average retention and excellent lacing.
Mouthfeel - medium carbonation, full mouthfeel
Flavor - fruity palate, peaches and green grapes, medium bitterness, but nicely balanced by the sweetness. Finish is long and bitter.
Overall - it's good, but there are IPA's available that are 1/2 the cost, and deliver a focused punch of hops. Gets knocked down a few pegs for the costs and the contents, although tasty, it doesn't warrant a near $20 of beer.
