Pours a dark tan .. Medium 1.5 inch head, leaves awesome brussels lace .. . moderate sweetness, maple, cookie, ketchup flavours .. . soft carbonation, easy to drink, not awfully complex, but tasty .. a great standard line up brew, nice level of bitterness.. .

Courtesy of slowrunner77 - this one pours a clear ruby amber with a sustained white head and lots of tight lacing. Good carbonation. First aromas are of hops - piney and bit of grapefruit - then the malts. Taste is hoppier than most ambers but that is good - earthy hops in the front then the sweetness from the malts. A good balance and a nice beer - Thank you Chris.

poured with a lot of head... weird, but has notes of blood, like after you give a person a hicky, you taste blood in your mouth, or maybe thats just me...LOL... some other notes of pine cone and tyme. very tasty...

Aroma was nice in an odd way, it was very floral with some nice citrus too it but on one hand it reminded me of scented soap, but its nice none the less. The body was an amber red, with good carbonation, head and lace. Flavor of floral hops with caramel malts. Overall another nice offering from Deschutes.

Was not blown away by this one... But is was good.. Just nothing special to it. It seemed too spicy if you will. Maybe a bad bottle. I will revisited this one next summer by the campfire.

On draft at Flagstaff brewing. Pour was full murky red in color, large amber-ish colored head, solid pale ale / amber ale style lacing. The aroma was full of toffee and caramel malts, ample hops, pine and citrus. The flavor was heavy hard core toffee and caramel malts with a piney and rather bitter hop balance. Mouthfeel was hearty full, but the flavor combo didn't work great for me. Surprised I hadn't had this before, ordered it assuming it as another good Deschutes brew, something I can't get at home, but it was only ok (and I shoulda gone back to the Hop Rod Rye instead!).

Get it at the brewery...it's AWESOME fresh...maybe a 4.6-7. Good in the bottle too, about a 4, but I love Deschutes and there's been a time or 2 when it was the best beer they were serving on tap, and i'm more of a stout/imperial ipa type of guy!

Great sweet hop aroma from opening to completion. Pours out in a deep amber/red color. Fantastic red ale taste; subtle sweetness with a nice bout of hoppiness. Easily this is my new favorite red.

Pours a deep amber/red color with average head. Aroma is malty, some grapefruit, floral hops and a light yeast. Mouthfeel is medium/full. Flavor follows the aroma with a bit of sweetness. Finish is a little sweet and nice hop bite.

I had this at a tasting at Bevmo. This is one of the best amber ales I've ever had. It has a nice balance of flavor between hops & malt. The nose isn't too big, but this is a great session brew.
