When we were designing our flagship brands, we knew we would not please everybody, so we went for diversity; our Yukon Red is substantially different from our Yukon Gold. But what has surprised us most is that our local Yukoners have taken both of our flagship brands to heart (and to dinner, and to parties…) and drank almost equivalent quantities of each! This speaks volumes for the apparent consumer cravings for beers with flavour, and Yukon Red is all about flavour. The drink starts with by displaying a deep bronze colour, but the beer is crystal clear. The head is an abundant fine mousse (pronounced ‘moose’ for the cabin crowd), cream coloured and just spilling over the rim of the glass (if you got the good waitress, Yukon trained and all). As you raise the mug, your senses catch the fine aromas permeating from the glass, clean malty sweetness touched by spicy hop esters. The first draw of the ale cools the parched lips and moistens the cheeks. Full malt body takes over the palate; not sweet, but bold, fruity and persistent. A snap of clean hop bitter grabs the back of the tongue and springs into the sinus cavity, blending with the caramel flavours that have wafted back with the nectar that is this ale. But the swallow goes down clean, almost dry, and leaves only a slight lingering presence of the abundant flavours that were just there, and now gone! Many more draws on the mug, many more mouth-filling flavour experiences, and always that clean finish, saying “How about another?!!”. Can you tell that this is the head brewers favourite? All you expect in a true ale, and as arresting as the Spell of the Yukon.

Thanks to my friend Nic for bringing this back from his trip to Edmonton. Pours a hazy deep amber colour with a creamy-foamy beige head, good retention and bubbly-creamy lace. Caramel malt nose with some fruity notes. The is nicely balance between the caramel, nutty and fruity malts. Some light hops are present as well. I forgot about this one for year, but I am surprised it style holds up.

First off, it's the Yukon 'Arctic' Red. Secondly, it's not all that red, it's closer to orange. Aroma is caramel malt, no real hops. The flavour is sweet and tasty. A fine beer.

Pours a dark red/copper with a off white head that had a decent life span, had moderate lacing going on, but nothing serious! Aroma was of hops, fruity and malts. the taste is hoppy, malty and slightly fruity. I really enjoyed the hops in this beer, just the right amount i think, not overly bitter but atleast you know their there!! Mouthfeel is soft, not quite medium bodied, little bit too thin. the aftertaste produces a lovely kick of hops. i must say i was surprised by this beer, highly drinkable and pretty damn good i must say!!

One of 4 selections in the Yukon "Thirst Aid Kit" mixed 12 pack, and it came with a free Yukon pint glass. Pours a dark reddish brown color, short slightly tan head. The thick foam fades into a thin floating cap and ring after a few minutes. There is a strong smell of hops. A clean, bitter aroma, but not much other smells to balance. Lots of hoppy flavor, especially in the finish. Just my opinion, but not quite enough malty sweetness to balance. Good carbonation and solid body to it. Drinkability? very good, pairs nicely with most any food. Pass me another.

Nice orange / copper beer with decent head and good retension which produces better than average lacing. I was suprised by the aroma: stinky, fruity, spicy hops, ok malts, slight chemical odour that I don't like. This is not a complex beer on taste: soft bitter fruity hops and average malts. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth, medium bodied and leaves a sour bitter aftertaste.

Deep copper body, with ruby red edges when held up to the light, poured a thick tan head that lasted about a minuet before dispersing, leaving a thin blanked of head floating on top. Aroma was dominated by sweet fruity hops and robust malts, there is a good balance of the two neither one over powering the other. Clean crisp taste that has a smooth creamy feel, very full feeling beer. Fruity hops and roasted malts are the most apparent tastes and has a dish soap finish, a mildly bitter after taste lingers after you’re done the brew. Not a bad little brew nice and refreshing defiantly above average.

Not a bad little session ale. Pours a light copper, pretty clear, with a good, yellowish head. The aroma is lightly malty, light caramel and a bit of light toast. There’s an oddness to the aroma almost like detergent, but the hops are herbal and noticeable in the aroma and flavor, although far from aggressive. The flavor is lightly sweet and it goes down pretty easy. A bit apples. Not bad.

Poured a HUGE tan, foamy head which produced almost lots of exquisite lacing. Colour was a clear, dark copper and the subdued aroma was primarily malt. Taste was smooth and quite malty; I liked this one.
