This easy-drinking Pale Ale revives the name of one of the early icons of California brewing. Clean-tasting and pleasantly malty, Acme Pale is brewed with Yakima Valley hops, American two-row malt and British specialty malts for depth.

This one pours a hazy orange (with yellow tints) colored ale. A thin soapy white head that settles all too quickly. An average lacing is left behind. The aroma is all too faint hints of malt. The malt is the dominate feature in this beer. Far less hops than one would expect from a Pale Ale. A full bodied brew is perhaps it’s saving grace.

Bottle: Poured a copper color ale with a medium foamy head with good retention and average lacing. Aroma of light bitter hops with some subtle floral undertones. Taste is a well balanced mix between some lightly bitter hops with some notes of caramel malt. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad but lacking character and additional hops presence would have been great.

Another beer in the line of North Coasts "Acme" beers, it continues on with the slightly above average, easy to forget label that the other beers have. The beer pours out a rather murky orange/amber like color with a 1"-2" white creamy head. Aroma is fresh pitted fruits, thin malts and a light bitter nose. Carbonation is above average, with a light sting on the tongue. Flavors has some subdued caramel malts, very restrained bitterness yet suprisingly fruity. My 2nd beer while watching the Lakers hang on to a ever-so close win against the Nuggets. I hate Kobe.

pours a murky amber with a one finger white head. aroma is nice. citrus, hops, spices, and sweet malt are present. taste is nice and crisp. hops, citrus, spices, and slight metal flavor. not really that bitter at all. overall a decent pale ale but i think it needs more of a hop bite to it.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Pours a nice golden colour with a one finger head. The head hangs around for a while and leaves nice lacing. The nose is mostly soured fruit with some malts and hops. The taste shows a nice balance of malts and hops, with some bitterness throughout the sip. There is sort of a smoky flavour at the finish that adds a bit of character. Mouthfeel is light with a nice amount of carbonation. Drinkability is more than average, but not the best. I could drink more than one in a sitting, but I don't know if I would drink three or more. Excepting the smell, it is a nice brew, but it is not one I will spend time trying to find. I wouldn't turn it down if offered one, though.

a tiny bit better than others in the acme line, but still a slightly below average pale ale. not enough balance in the beer, the hops are ok, but they have no other presence to play off of.

S3l1f3t5o13 6/5/07: On tap at the Bocktown. Looks like a ubiquitous pale yellow American lager. The aroma is nothing special but it is beery with just a hint of sweetness. A little hoppy on the first impact but this pale ale is certainly very mild. I am not a hop lover so when I get a taste of hops I cringe, however, the mildness of this brew really surprises me. I find it very acceptable! Medium carbonation. The finish is not offensive yet it does impart the qualities of hop flavors without the bitter bite. Very acceptable for an American pale ale. A style not normally appreciated by this beerpalian’s taste buds. The best American pale ale I’ve tasted so far out of about a dozen.

A malty nose with a hint of citrus and clove. A very nice off white head with excellent retention and decent lacing sits atop a clear pale copper colored body. Mouthfeel is medium and watery and perhaps under-carbonated. This beer is a let down, I really like their IPA a lot. There is almost no flavor to speak of, nothing bad but just not much taste at all. Thereis a bit of malt and a bit of hops and a grassy finish, with a slight sour aftertaste. EyeChart nails this one, its wishy-washy, better than macro-swill but just barely.

Pours a hazy orange color topped with a relatively thin head. A little lacing but nothing out of the ordinary. Fruity aroma as apricots and peaches come to mind. Faint but decent. Decent mix of malts and hops, with a mild spicy sugary flavor. This is pretty much middle of the road. I'd like more hops out of a Pale Ale. Probaby won't blow many away but it's quite drinkable. North Coast makes better brews than this one.

A hazy orange beer with a dense orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of oranges, while the flavor is sweet malty with light notes of hops and fruit.
