On tap at the Mellow Mushroom in Tampa. Pours clear deep copper with off white head. As usual it is being served way too cold to enjoy and I don’t have an extra 20 minutes today waiting for it to warm up. The aroma is candy sweet slightly caramelized malts mixed with sweet tangelo, orange peel and a note of pine hops. It’s just too darn cold to get a good read of the aroma. The bitterly cold liquid ushers in a very pleasing flavor combination of sweet citrus orange and tangelo juice along with a solid sweet malt backbone. Big bold late addition citrus hop flavors make it seem rich and delicious. Then the hops only becomes moderately bitter into the finish. Terrific IPA. It is too much on the rich and luscious side to be a sessionable type IPA but that’s not why I’m drinking it.

Avery has yet to impress me, and I think I've had a dozen or so of their beers. Not a beer for hop haters as their is a huge citrus hop element to both the aroma and flavour. A good beer, just not outstanding.

Anytime I have the opportunity to have an American Strong style ale, I leap at it. Something about this style just resonates with me. This beer is very nice. It pours out a cloudy golden amber color, lighter than some ASA’s. A nice 2" thick off-white head. Big malt aroma, sticky caramel with an equally big citrus aroma. It definitely treads on b/w territory. Flavor has a great balance between juicy citrus hops and rich caramel malts. Alcohol seems well tucked away with this beer. Very nice.

A nice aroma of over ripe pineapple and grapefruit greet me upon pouring. a hazy amber body with a thin off white cap, didnt leave much lace. Mouthfeel was a little thin, flavor was alcohol, lots of caramel malts with hints of vanilla. Overall it was a pretty good brew, but the alcohol was a bit too forward. Forward enough to lower the score a little, but not enough to keep me from drinking again.

Sampled from bottle at Brewskis in Fayetteville. Pours hazy copper with a thin, scattered head. Assertive c-hop nose with some bread and caramel notes. Nicely bitter with citrus, toasted malts present. Bitterness lingers. Full-bodied and strong carbonation. Worth trying!

Pours copper with perfect clarity and an impressive head, given the strength of the beer. The nose was fruity at first, then turned very floral with subtly bready notes. Rich, earthy malt provides a pleasant backdrop to loads of floral hoppiness. Very tasty, even the aftertaste made me feel like I had great breath! Full bodied with notable warming. Excellent commemorative brew.

Poured an orangish color with small head and almost no lacing. Aroma was a ton of citrus and floral hops. Flavor was much the same almost no malt balance. Was a little watery on the mouthfeel, lack of malt base is my guess.

pours a pretty clear amber...fluffy white head, lots of lace. nice looking beer. smell is quite hoppy as expected. feel is very full for any pale, medium overall. very smooth. carbonation is spot on. hops are prevelant in the flavor (juicy and piney), but there is a sweet fruity malt backbone as well. doesn't work quite as well as the better 2IPAs with the 8.75% abv (maybe better at 7-8%) but it's a very good beer with a nice finish, too. I'll try not to dock it points for being an "Obama beer" :o
