Bottle from brewolf. Thanks Michael! Pours a murky reddish-brown color with no head. A vigorous pour doesn’t generate much either. The aroma shows cherries, oak, vinegar, red wine, currants. This isn’t overly sour tasting and drinks a little thin. Flavor is decent but seems a little dull or at the very least not as complex as I thought it would be or the aroma had me thinking. Ripe fruits; cherries, grapes and plums. Some spice, old barn, and barrel notes with a little alcohol in the finish. I enjoyed this but it was a big want for me so I guess it’s safe to say this was a bit of a disappointment.

Bottle. An extra from milljam. Floral aroma consisting of herbs, grains, a little caramel, along with light banana and yeast. Rustic murky copper color that pours with a thick tan fluffy head. Grapefruit shows in the flavors with moderate hoppy spiciness, caramel, some saison-like clove and yeast. Interesting beer. For some reason this is coming across as a Pale Ale with a Belgian twist. I thought the 8% was a website error until I saw it on the label.

Draft. This is what was available and really it’s not all that bad. Amber color and pours with a thin head. The aroma is weak, some corn and grains. Sweet and watery flavors with caramel malting, grains, weak hops. Very thin but still drinkable.

Bottle from brewblackhole. Dark brown pour. A thin head struggles to develop then fades away. Roasty oats, chocolate, mild coffee, a little bit of rye, light barrel notes, and some toasty bitterness. Nothing really stands out with this beer, perhaps chocolate if I had to pick something. Tastes like it’s been aged in a barrel but not nearly as much rye or whiskey, which I don’t really even pick up, as I was expecting. I love the fact that it’s not overdone with the barrel-aging flavors but they are still there to bring it all together. A really good beer

Bottle from brewblackhole. New Glarus unplugged brews are always fun. This pours a rustic golden-orange color that’s topped with a thick fluffy off-white head. Pretty good retention too that yields blotchy lacing. The aroma here shows cleaning supplies, apricot, yeast, and peaches. An onslaught of apricot and peach flavors that for the most part follow the aroma. Lemons and herbs mix in and the peach/apricot taste is less intense after a few sips. There’s a bit of a sweet tang to this but not in an alcoholic way. Overall quite tropical fruity. Light prickly carbonation. I’m not a big fan of the idea of an Imperial Saison but I do like this one. A touch on the sweet side, sure, but still pretty easy drinking and enjoyable
