True to the style, I'll give it that. Handsome amber color, malty aroma, full mouthfeel, smoky malt flavor. Hops in the background. Had the caramel hints to it. Pretty much all you'd expect from an amber ale, but other than that, nothing to make it stand out much.

This one won a bronze for best scotish style ale even though its an amber... not the alcohol content, so maybe the judges judged it towards the end and got the labels mixed up...This one smells like a chocolate malt, and like a chocolate malt is light on the chocolate and heavy on the malted milk flavor. Crisp, dry and the mouthfeel is a little chalky. Nice head and lacing that dissipates quickly. Heavy on the malt, mild on the hops with a peaty back flavor. Good one for my 50th review this month.

This one pours with a bold amber color. There’s a big creamy off-white head. Good hang time. Settles into clouds of froth atop the ale. The aroma is an in your face sweet malt. The body is light to moderate light body. There’s a nice creaminess on the palate. The taste is malt, slight sour mash. Not what I’ve come to expect from an amber ale that usually carries more hops. I just didn’t get that hoppy flavoring here. But a decent quaff, nonetheless.

Sampled on draft at the brewery, 08/07. Pours clear amber with a nice white head. Floral, fruit, bread and candy aroma. Lots of biscuit/toasted malt in the flavor. Medium-body, moderately high carbonation. Solid amber ale.

Rated 3/7/08. Solid. Pours a real nice hazy amber color topped with a thin head. Still decent lacing left. Mild aroma, some tropical fruit and caramel. Flavors are nicely balanced. Slightly fruity, caramel, toffee, hops. Mild finish. Very easy to drink. Quite good for a usually boring style.

A copper color with a moderate white head. The aroma is somewhat floral with some caramel and citrus fruit. present. The flavor is slightly bitter with some grass, grapefruit, caramel and a bit of a nutty presence. The finish is somewhat bitter with a carbonated mouthfeel. Overall for an amber ale this is pretty good!

Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma of hops and vegetables with some caramellish hints. Flavour is caramel, malts and some grass in finish and aftertaste.

Part of their sampler case and by far the weakest. Not a bad beer but nothing special. My problem is that I paid $36 for this sampler case and while most of the beers are worthy of this price this one is not! A good beer that I would gladly drink at $20 a case but as part of this hi priced sampler it becomes a disappointment.
