About:
I'm an amateur homebrewer who has made my own malts and cultured yeasts. I enjoy studying nature and finding exotic flavors and aromas. I also enjoy doing fun/ny reviews and posts and beerpal, sorta like stirring up the yeast that has settled to the bottom of a carboy.

When I first tasted this beer it hit the tip of my tongue and I said, "Yes, that's a definite barleywine, strong malt character, but as it splashed over the rest of my tongue there is only one word to describe the rest of the flavor: BACON! BACON! BACON! I have never had a beer that actually tastes like bacon. Bacon smothered in sweet malt. Smokey crisp bacon. The nose has bacon. This is the only beer I recommend to have with pancakes. Yum!

If there is one beer that you have to get from Titletown, this is the one. Absolutely have to! Period. While its description mentions its chocolatey taste I found it something much more complex. This capture an irony cold ozoney flavor that captures the cold icey darkness of space. If it were up to me everyone watching the movie Gravity would have a large mug of this one to help them through the movie. As the bartender who served it said to me, "Many black ipas taste like stouts with hops thrown in." This is something altogether different and if given a blind taste test I wouldn't have thought it an ipa either. I would have just said it reminds me of looking out into the stars on a night that's 19 below. And tonight it is.

A wonderful new find in Green Bay. Had this before a packer game, in a red cup. Creamy tan head, nice chewy mouthfeel, sort of like if you combined a citrusy ipa, an amber, a cream ale and a touch of a quad or abby ale. Darker than most ipas. Wish I had had a real glass but next time i'll bring one. Definitely the most complex ipa I've had in awhile.

This is a great change in ipas as it definitely, definitely, definitely has that marijuana flavor, which is not surprising coming out of Madison. One of my new favorite ipas. Mellower than caramel. No harsh ipa flavor. Doesn't make your tongue go numb.

Perhaps this bottle was old or perhaps this just didn't impress me. I didn't feel this was a good/great ipa, just average. the fuggles is mellow, not strong at all. Meh.
