“First Ale of the Republic” Created in keeping with the Cascadian commitment to the protection of natural water resources, this ale is brewed with malted barley and hops grown and processed under conditions certified organic by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and the USDA. Certified Organic Amber Ale is a medium-bodied beer with an appealing deep amber hue. The organic pale, Munich, and crystal malts create a gentle sweet character that is difficult to resist. From organic Hallertauer hops come a zesty flavor and aroma that beautifully balance Organic Amber’s malt character. All of these choice ingredients were grown without the use of the harmful fertilizers and pesticides that damage our precious streams and ground water. The result is a truly delicious ale which is consistent with Fish Brewing’s desire to promote organic agriculture with all its benefits for salmon habitat and the environment in whole. Silver medal winner in the Organic class of the International Ale Competition of the 2004 Brewing Industry International Awards, held each year in London, England.

Pours a dark piss yellow with a fizzy white head that disapears quickly. Aroma is citricy with hints of hops. Taste is bland and has a tad of the "green bottle" in it. Fairly watered down. Not very good.

has a bit too much of what my buddy calls "dirt malt" for me to really get into this one. spicy hops in the aroma and flavor, enough to balance and then some, but the mix of flavors is so so at best.

Seems more like a pale ale to me than an amber, but could just be a lighter-hoppy amber. Smooth feel, pretty crisp, decent flavor....not bad for my first sample from Fish Tale. Something light for my warm-up drink before my drive to Superbowl Party! Would pair good with different kinds of food too. Good beer that I would get again, figuring I only sampled one to try. If you like beer (pale ales or IPAs) don't even bother reading the bad ratings, as there is nothing wrong with this one.... Water, barley, and hops.....that's it....how bad can it be?

Picked this one up while on vacation. Must say it is better then a number of "organic" offerings that are out there. Nice dark amber, clear with a so so head. Flavor is moderately complex slightly sweet caramel malt with none aggressive hops. Not a huge hit on the alcohol side of things, a good one to watch TV by!

Bottle courtesy of Piscator 34: Poured a cloudy deep amber color ale with a nice foamy head with some good retention and lacing. Aroma of bitter and citrus hops is more dominant then expected with some light caramel malt. Taste is a mix between some bitter and light citrus hops and some caramel malt with some light sweetness also noticeable. Overall, I thought this was a nice hoppy session ale.

Im not sure what everyone who gave this beer bad reviews was drinking, but this beer is very tastey. It pours a cloudy, hazey brown-orange colour. little head, and lots of earthy charachter. Taste is very smooth, nutty and pleasent. Count me in for the organic revolution!:)

poured in a triple chalice. probly not a good choice. anyhoo, head was very little, and didn't last. left a sparse skim in glass. aroma shows hints of roasted malts and a sweet floral fragrance. taste reflects the malt smells. light hops present. goes down easy and mouthfeel is decent. probly won't get this beer again to just drink.

Pretty color, amber to some copper, nice initial head, diminishes but continues to cover the surface, lacing decent. The aroma was floral hops, some caramel, a touch of roast. The flavor was watery, caramel, some citrus, floral hops, and an odd roasty, slight chocolate or coffee in the background. Mouthfeel was on the thin side. Not a terribly pleasing beer, but not too bad.

usually try to stay away from "organic" anything. I accidently pulled two of these for a trade so I thought I'd try it. "Spawned on" date is June. I have no idea which year. I don't want to get off on a rant here, but it seems if a company is going to go through the trouble of putting freshness dates they would add the year to it as well. I'm not afraid of a beer that's 10 months old, but I'd really like to know which decade at least. Pours a dark amber with only a little head, and that was after a rather vigorous pour. No lacing. Smells floral with some malt sweetness to it. The taste has an interesting balance to it. It's almost syrupy sweet yet there some decent hoppiness to it. Mouthfeel is about what you'd expect. Drinkability is okay. There's many other ambers I'd have before grabbing this again.

All I can say is yuck the aroma I got when opening this beer was not the greatest thing I have ever smelled, and then the taste that followed pretty much was the same, I had a hard time choking this beer down and almost didn't finish it but in the end I battled and downed it.
