Another year and our best yet. Twelve glorious years total! Thanks guys and gals! As you've probably noticed, along the way we've developed quite a fetish/addiction for Belgian-style brews. Here's another style we've been craving to concoct - an intricate Saison, full of zesty citrus and spicy notes paired with a subtle herbaceous essence. Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, imported Belgian malted wheat, sweet orange peel, lemon peel, grains of paradise, chamomile, lavender, hops, and Belgian yeast.

Bottled@FatPhil&oh6gdx EBF-warmup cruise. Slightly hazy golden colour with small white head. Aroma is pumpkin, coconut and lots of other spices/herbs. Flavour is pumpkin, spices, coconut and also quite evident notes of alcoholic sweetness. A rather sweet pumpkin pie-like brew.

Bottle courtesy of Unclemattie: Poured a golden color ale with a huge foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of spicy yeast and fruity ester is really pleasant. Taste is a well balance mix between some sweet malt with some hints of fruit ester and a spicy yeasty finish with maybe a hint of cinnamon or cloves. Full body with some great carbonation. I am really surprised by how well this beer has aged and it somehow reminded me of Smuttynnose Farmhouse ale.

Egads...after receiving ample warning from eaglefan538 and bfeldmann, my dad shows up at my door sporting this beer. Dirty straw color, smallish head and no lacing. Aroma and flavor were as bad as reported. Ginger overload with cinnamon, soap, flowers and a touch of apple (about the only flavor that belongs in a saison). Definitely a spiced beer, pure and simple, and not great at that. I'm going to have a hard time finishing my half....

AVERY, here's news for you: HORRID. So many bad products. Whereas bfeld was forced by some of us to bottoms up The Rev, and whereas I've had to force down their nasty syrupy, sickly sweet and over alcoholed Beast beers on my own, this product didn't make it to the bottom even after 15-20 mins of patience and full temperature rise (serve it at a steady 35F and I might change my mind). Man, my dad and I split this 22ozer, and each of us couldn't get down more than about 5oz over that time period. Unreal. Saison? It was a spice beer, plain and simple. Sure some wheat malt and citrus flavors were in there, but the spice and floral notes were so overwhelming it was sickly disgusting, a worse disaster than Weyerbacher's Decadence and Great Lakes' Christmas ale. Lemon and orange rinds are detected in the sweet candy like aroma along with lavender floral notes. The flavor includes a nasty sense of ginger, maybe the lavender and "grains of paradise" together make for that type of flavor. The spices jump out and attack you and are just nasty. I couldn't get past the spice to any pepper notes. In fact, the citrus elements were gone after some temperature rise. Appearance was hazy pale yellow with a very nice pillowy head. Lacing for the 5 out of 11oz in my glass appeared decent, but who knows. A terrible Belgian-style brewer and pretty much an over-distributed weak brewer in my mind. This is one of the worst beers I've ever had and certainly more offensive than many a swill. Give me corn over this any day. At least I can cut grass with corn adjunct laden beer. So much for continuing to "impress" the dad with new beers. Sheesh.

Wow, an incredibly amazing beer. Totally unexpected aroma of cinnamon and pumpkin (smelled pretty close to a pumpkin ale) - very spicy, I was expecting something very thick and sugary. However, the flavor was light and airy, with just a hint of spice and lots of yeast and a little citrus kick. I really like this beer and will attempt to buy it out from my local bottle store.

Poured a clear golden color with a large, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Lots of spices in the aroma, we’ve got ginger, orange peel, some lavender, cinnamon, and chamomile, with some tart lemon, bready yeast, mint leaf, vanilla, and some citrus fruits. Taste of tart citrus, vanilla, all spice, floral (think chewing on a flower), honey, lemongrass, lightly hopped, with a soapy aftertaste. Light mouthfeel.

Shiny pale golden appearance with firm white foam. Aroma of bubblegum, lavendel, coriander and lemon. Dense, perfumy flavour of lavendel, hints of rose petals and spices. Thick soapy mouthfeel. Lot’s of lavendel in the aftertaste as well, hints of soap and orange-peels.

The aroma is a complete put-off for me. Strong peppery smell, to a point of almost burning my nose. Decent enough looking, pouring a copper color with long-lasting white head. Hardly any lacing, if any. Spices in the flavor, but again, with the overpowering pepperiness. Maybe a little clove in the background. Nope, not for me.

Aroma - peppery. Appearance - Light yellow with a medium white head. Flavor - Sweet and spicy, reminding me of holiday desserts. I've never had a spiced beer I actually liked until this one. Usually they overdo it, but this one was actually quite good.

05.22.05 Bomber at jimmack04 invitational. Pale golden, thin white head. Sure looks tempting for a saison. Juniper and floral herb/savory aromas. Not quite pine, definitely cedar and juniper and herbs de provence. Bit sweet up front then flattens out to dry and herbal. Even more savory herb and spice comes through on finish. Spicy. This is a beer that could really grow on me.
