The "Moinette blonde" is a top fermentation beer with refermentation in the bottle. Ever since its creation in 1955, this beer is considered as “the showpiece” of the brewery Dupont on the Belgian market. For centuries, the region where the brewery is situated, was pretty swampy, (swamp = marais (français moderne) = moëne (français ancient), so the name Moinette was linked to this “moëne region”. In the little village of Tourpes existed also a mill and a “Cense de la Moinette”, both belonged to the Dupont dynasty. (cense = farmstead). Originally, the name “Abbaye de la Moinette” was used for this beer, but since 1980 the name “Moinette” has become the commercial name. Coppery blond with many fine hop aromas, the "Moinette blonde" is a very refreshing beer, thanks to its subtle balance between sweet, bitter and fruity. The selection of our yeasts gives this beer its typical aroma and taste. A real refermentation in the bottle, which continues for a long time in your cellar, results in a complex taste and harmonious bouquet.

March 2017: 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%. Hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Strong fruity and spicy aroma of Belgian ale yeast. Spicy and yeasty flavour, medium sweet, with notes of white kandij sugar and stewed fruits. Moderate hops.

Clear yellow, nice lasting white foam head. Barley aroma and taste, decent beer. Nothing special here, just a good drinking beer and a count. (Lille 201507)

Pours fuzzy yellow white head. Tons of light fruit in the nose, along with a bit of spice. Great flavor and a bit of bite in mouth. Will definitely be looking for this one again in the future if I can find it.

I just returned from a trip to Belgium at had this beer at the Delirium Pub. I also tried the Biologique version. It was spectactular; the best beer I ever drank. Then I returned home to the US and bought this at Binney's two days later to proudly share with a friend and was very disappointed. It seems to not travel or age well, I am not sure. It was still decent but not the same beer I had not even two days prior. The fresh beers near the origin are no comparison to beers shipped overseas and collecting dust in the back of a store. In Belgium, this is the best beer ever - smooth, full of flavor, the perfect mixture of hops, tart, and body. In the US, it is ok but overly acidic, tart, and hoppy.

This poured a dark golden color with a white head. Very carbonated BTW. The aroma is a spice rack for realz with some lemons and banana. The flavor is rather malty with some booze in the background. A heavy spice and biscuit note going on with the citrus present. This has a strong herbal presence as well. Not your run of the mill belgian blonde lemon bomb, this has some character. Overall a nice one.

I looked at this one in the shop for quite a long time, not too sure about it, have never heard of it... because I needed to round out my collection... I bought it. Talk about impressed and surprised!!! Aromas are ridiculous! Liquorice, bit of tobbacco, peaches, winery, yeast is very prevelant, apricot, anything orange coloured that you can think of, perhaps powdered orange juice crystals, powdered passion fruit juice, bit of kiwi, simple syrup.... sooo sweet smelly yet so round, if not a bit fry in the mouth. Flavour profile is similair, super yeast, light citrus hop profile, malt is super sublte, well rounded, almost undetectable, but clearly fantastic canvas which the other flavours play on. Super cloudy... fantastic head, tiny tiny bubbles. Has the pungency of an onion.... lemon...sharp, biting, dry, not bitter, certainly not sweet. Wicked. Will be buying again to age. It does seem to have a salty/wood character that you might find in a speyside whisky... that would be cool, a wood aged version of this beer. Yup

It pours a hazy golden-yellow with thin white head and substantial lace build-up. The aroma is of sour malts, golden apples, citrus, and spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, silky, and rich. Flavors of sour/tart malts, hops, lemons/citrus, apple, slight alcohol, and spiciness. Splendid! has just the right amount of sting to it.

Found this big green wine-looking bottle in my cellar, outdated, with a best before 06/2008 (but kept away from light). The cork had 2.005 written on it (I assume that is the date that it was bottled). Bought this one at the SAQ. Poured it into a tulip glass and had a huge foamy white head. This one had good retention and great lacing (foamy as well) all around. The colour of the brew was yellow-orange and had lot of tiny pieces floating all around with the tiny bubbles (very active). Lots of fruits, mostly oranges, found in the nose, with spices and a little alcohol. A bit of nutty malt found in the taste, with some hop sticking out in the finish. The fruit is also mildly present, with the spices. I guess the past date made this one a little soft on the flavours, but could not find the alcohol at all in the mouth. Pretty decent strong saison or abbey tripel. Very well-brewed, enjoyable and goes down very-easily.

This poured me an active, frothy as opposed to foamy (bigger bubbles), four-fingers deep white head on top of a cloudy orange/gold body. The aroma was an interesting melange of fruits, hops, and spices with no one element taking the lead. Flavour was reflective of the nose, and while the mouthfeel was "solid", it was somewehat sweeter than I'd like. Finished well.

Bottled. Hazy yellow colour, not muich head. Aroma is graqss, spices, earth and some floral hints. Flavour is very much the same. A quite boring brew, but does hide the 8.5% alcohol very well.
