  • Victory Pursuit Pale Ale (El Dorado)
    rated 3.6 13 years ago

    Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Sample at brewpub - Pale yellow color...not awe inspiring. Flavor was impressively crisp with a sweet malty flavor with an earthy zingy hop. Light bodied and drinkable.

  • Iron Hill Belgian Pale Ale

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

On tap at Media location (sample). Orangey pour, minimal aroma. Taste was light pear and apple with noticeable cloves. Sort of like a light bodied trippel. English hops notable and provide a nice balance. Clean and refreshing.

Sampled at Media location. My first thought was "Hefeweizen? December?" Wheaty. Not a lot of clove or banana...just really wheat/yeasty. Really heavy. I know see why this on in December, as it's probably too rich for a summer beer, but I’m not sure this beer has a good season for it.

  • Founders Pale Ale
    rated 2.6 13 years ago

    Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5

I love Founders, but this isn’t good. Murky yellow color with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma was corn and cardboard. Flavor was citrusy with moderate level of hoppiness but with an off grainy corn chip like aftertaste. Amazing how I can love most of the beers so much yet hate something as generic as a pale ale.

On tap at Media location. Pale golden color, good lacing. This one is a syrupy grapefruit bomb. Hugely sweet and hugely bitter. It’s a bit cloying, however, and a bit one dimensional. This has been done to death.
