To commemorate an important milestone in Anchor Brewing’s long history, a special ale seemed appropriate. Having found and experimented with a very rare and unusual hop variety called Nelson Sauvin, we knew that its unique character would impart a wonderful flavor and aroma to a pale ale brewed especially for the occasion: Humming Ale.

12 fl. oz. capped bottle. Poured in the original Anchor Liberty Ale shaker pint glass a clear and yellow-orange coloured APA with a one finger dense, beige and creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Sustained carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is sweety malts, rich fruits, mango, pineapples, oranges, citrus and aromatic hops, pine. The flavour is aciditic fruits, oranges, peaches, citrus, flowery, light sweety malts and biscuits, heavy bitter and floral hops. The mouthfeel is quite fulled, thick and smooth. The texture is watery. This medium bodied APA has a lingering dry fruity and hoppy bitter finish. A nice and well hoppied A P A from The californian cult-brewery in San Fransisco.

A bold golden colored beer with a big frothy textured, white head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. Settles eventually into a soft soapy ringlet and heavy film. Big grapefruit hop nose. Same in tasting balanced by a light biscuity malt. Light, crisp and resfreshing.

Pours a caramel color. Smell is of hops and malts. Taste is malty up front, some hops at the finish, slight bit of sweetness to it. Overall a good quality beer.

From slowrunner - Wish List item as it is not available around east Tennessee. Lightly murky copper orange pour, nice white head, plenty of lacing. Grapefruity hop aroma, clean, with a good malty base. Taste is citrus and grapefruits, nice light bittering, offset by light maltiness, nice mild linger, not a heavy beer. Thanks to Chris for this easy-to-drink APA. Nice stuff.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.9%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Very nice aroma of Nelson Sauvin hops, fruity notes (gooseberries, tropical fruits), hints of pine. Refreshing flavour, medium dry, with a distinct hoppy bitterness throughout, sharpish in the aftertaste. Not very complex.

Crisp aroma is fruity with malty and woody notes. It pours a somewhat hazy amber with a very thick, fine-bubbled, persistent off-white head. Malty flavor has a woody undertone and fruity and floral notes. Firm-bodied texture is fairly fizzy and leaves a woody finish.

A solid APA. Light orange semi-cloudy appearance. Aroma of citrus and pine. Little on the hoppier side....almost an IPA but not quite. Not sure if this is a summer seasonal, but noticed it came out around that time. Good for the hot weather or just for something on the lighter side. Pairs well with good variety of food. Will probably get again somewhere down the line, but there are better APAs out there.

Humming seemed to me anyway to be a hopped up lager. Lager malts in the aroma, and at first taste, the hops come in at the finish they are dry and grassy, with a touch of citrus. The finish is slightly bitter, overall a decent enough beer.

This is a very good beer that is solid all round without being outstanding anywhere. A cloudy reddish-gold pour with no head. The aroma is mainly caramel malt, some spice, and earthy hops. Flavour is rich with a nice balance between the sweet malt and the hops.

A decent pale ale. Had it on tap at Red's Alehouse in North Liberty, IA. Hazy yellow pour with a nice white head. Flavor of hops, citrus. Fruit taste of the malts, somewhat yeast flavor. Not bad.
