  • Aecht Schlenkerla Helles Lagerbier
    rated 4.0 5 years ago

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

500 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original Aecht Schlenkerla Willi becher a crystal-clear and golden yellow coloured Helles with a two fingers almost white, fine , dense and pillowy foamy head that had a no end retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Great lacing. The aroma is toasted malts, a Rauch touch and herbal hops. The flavour is toasted malts, honey tones and, of course, a light to moderate Rauch feel. The mouthfeel is thin, round and smoked. A nice balance between the malts and the smoke. The texture is oily. This light bodied Helles has a dry smoked finish. A light Lager with a moderate smoked feel. Yes, this Aecht Schlenkerla Helles Lagerbier, brewed without any Rauch malt, is easy accessible for everybody daring the first attempt and the try worth. I enjoyed it.

  • Veldensteiner Bierwerkstatt Red Rye
    rated 4.1 5 years ago

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

500 ml swing-top bottle. Poured in the original Veldensteiner Seidel an unfiltered, opaque, red-amber coloured Red Rye with a one finger beige and creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles and a couple bigger one. Soft carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is rye and wheat malts, earthy hops, ashes, bubblegum (!) and woody tones. The flavour is rye and wheat malts, coffee beans, cocoa powder, ashes, spicy with a peppery touch and woody. The mouthfeel is round and light prickly. The texture is watery. This medium bodied Rye Beer has a dry rye malts finish. This Veldentsteiner Bierwerkstatt Red Rye, from the Kaiser brewery, in Neuhaus an der Pegnitz, Middle Franconia, offers a real character and presents, due to the massive rye add, a pronounced Landbier or country side. I like it.

  • Bayreuther Brauhaus Bock Bier
    rated 3.7 5 years ago

    Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

500 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original B BH Seidel a clear and reddish-copper-amber coloured Bockbier with a generous one finger light beige, fine, dense and pillowy foamy head that had tons of micro bubbles and some bigger one. Soft carbonation. Great lacing. The aroma is sweety malts, caramel tones, herbal hops and a quite unpleasant sourish touch. The flavour is caramel malts, bready, molasses and moderate grassy hops. The mouthfeel is creamy, quite thick, velvety, fulled and a bit sticky. The texture is oily. This medium bodied Bock Bier has a dry malty and sweety finish so a light warming aftertaste. This Bayreuther Brauhaus Bock Bier, BBBB, brewed in Upper Franconia, is a pleasant Bock Bier that could have its place in a coming Bavarian Bock Bier Liga, BBBL.

  • Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

500 ml capped bottle, version 2018 as a 6.3 ABV. Poured in a Bavarian Vase a crystal-clear and golden yellow coloured OFB with a two fingers slightly beige, fine, dense and soapy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles and some bigger one. Soft carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is grainy malts, caramel notes, herbal hops and a barnyard touch, even a skunky feel. The flavour is sweety grainy malts, caramel, breadcrust, corn and faint herbal hops. The mouthfeel is round and a bit sticky. The texture is oily. This medium to full bodied OFB has a dry sweety malts finish and a light warming effect. This Munich Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is not complex and rather sweety. It's an ideal companion for a long evening under a great tent with a humming German music.

  • Beavertown 8 Ball

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

330 ml, can. Poured in a tasting glass an unfiltered, cloudy and reddish copper-amber coloured Rye IPA with a one finger, beige, fine, dense and pillowy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. A floating sediments invasion. Some lacing. The aroma is intense piney bitter hops, cocoa powder, juicy fruits, oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, peaches and caramel malts. The flavour is juicy fruits, oranges, tangerines, peaches, dark chocolate, caramel malts, flowery, violets and powerful piney-resinous hops. The mouthfeel is quite thick, round, bitter and light sticky. The texture is watery. This medium bodied Rye IPA has a dry hoppy bitter finish ( piney ) and a late emerging moderate warming effect. After overcoming the visual surprise ( a freight car of floating sediments ), this 8 Ball Rye IPA, from the Londonian Beavertown brewery, now part of the Heineken Group, proves to be a well flavoured and nice English Rye IPA. I aprreciate it.
