Great local hang out with brewery operations on site at their Wonder St. location. They just opened a second location in downtown Reno w/ an outside patio that looks out at the Truckee River. Their downtown location is a nice, comfortable alternative to the casino scene just a few blocks to the east. Their 10 barrel operation puts out both ales and lagers in traditional west coast micro-brew styles; IPA, Amber, Lager, Porter, Stout. I have yet to have a bad beer from these guys. They brew a great Pilsner using traditional Sasz hops which is the first pint I had there last summer. For a hop head like me their IPA is my brew of choice. It comes to your table with a light amber hew and strong head about 1/2 inch thick. As you lift the pint you sense a pleasant fruit and floral aroma of the fresh hops; a clean and balanced feel in the mouth finished with a refreshing and distinctive hop bite. All the seasonals I've tried from them have been very drinkable. I'm recalling in particular the Scotch Ale that they recently were pouring. What a wonderful nutty, sweet, malty, high alcohol delite! Alcohol was very well masked and the beer just went down smooth like warm butterscotch. Only negative mark I would give is no cask condition! Time will tell if my incessant complaining to the poor, unsuspecting bartenders will pay off. Food here is excelent! Traditional pub grub with a nice dinner menu and daily specials. All the meats and veggies are fresh, well presented, and excellent compliment to the great beer. Also, awesome 360 view of the entire Washoe Valley and eastern slope of the snow capped Sierra Nevada mountain range from the roof top patio at the original Wonder St. location. A definite destination point for anyone visiting Reno.
