The New York Times called this one of the best new pale ales in the country. Whatever! This pours a very pale gold with a thin white head. Aroma is floral hops, grainy malt, and some yeasty tones. The flavour is weak, almost watery. I've tried this on both draught and bottle with the same result.

Consumed while up at Citizen's Bank Park, watching the Phils lose game 2 to the Rockies, joy! In any event, it poured yellow-amber in color on draft, nice initial head and good lacing. The aroma was citrus hops, light fruity esters. The flavor was citrus hops, light pine, but ample malts underneath, almost sweat bready-like. No idea why this didn't score higher, I enjoyed it.

10.31.04 12oz bottle. Medium amber with big foamy head. Lots of citric hoppiness in aromas don’t remind me at all of EPA. Flavor is grapefruity hop dominated with a grainy malt background.

Yards Philadelphia Pale Ale was rather enjoyable. It poured a golden body with a slightly floral smell. It initially tastes sweet but finishes with a hop kick. It was a nice balance.

Royal Stumble. A bit low in alcohol but still very tasty. One of the few highlights of this wacky event. More hop bite than usual EPA’s. Crisp.

This isn't a bad pale ale at all, just a bit toned down. Pours an amber/golden color, with a slight haze to it. Aroma is great, citrussy, hoppy, a bit grassy, and mildly sweet. Flavor is a little sweet and nicely hopped, with a grapefruitish finish, but is subdued over all. Very quaffable, but could use more muscle. This would make a great session beer.

Had this one on cask. It reminded me of Boddingtons but not as ballsy. Yard's Philly Pale has a nice orange color with light carbonation, and a frothy white head that looks like thick white clouds leaving a nice fluffy lace. A malty/yeasty aroma can be sniffed. Yard's Philly Pale has a nicely balanced hop/malt bitterness to it that is not objectionable. It's nice and smooth, but with some minor bite to the aftertaste. A seemingly dry finish also. Try it on cask. Very tasty.

Draft at Citizen's Bank Ballpark, called Yard's Philly Ale. Dark golden color, rocky white head. Mild hop aroma, bittering hops taste. Rather average mouthfeel.

I was disappointed by this beer, I thought Philly would have had something better by now. I actually hope that I got a bad case and that these beers aren't as bad as they seem. Anyway, I bought the Yards variety case, and every beer in the case was way too carbonated. It was like drinking beer mixed with seltzer water. This particular beer was the 3rd best of the case

Pours with a deep golden body with amber accents topped by a thick rocky lasting head with good lacing. Slightly sweet yet bitter hoppy aroma with grassy and slight fruity notes and a good malty balance. Watery hop flavor with grasy notes and a touch of maltiness. Not much as much flavor as expected. Light bodied and smooth with a touch of dryness.
