Too much for me! Not the hops, but the sweet malt with the hops. Had to force down the couple I had left. A well crafted brew, but I can't hang with it for some reason, it makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it.

Dark amber pour with a thick off-white blanket of head. The label and description both scream hop-bomb but it tastes more like an ESB to me. Where are the hops? I get mostly caramel, bread and roasted malt notes with some earthy, grassy hops in the background. Seems like false advertising to me.

This one is a surprise in a bottle. Says ale but is actually a black pale ale and its probably closer to a stout, but i'm not the expert. The head does fade faster than a stout and a little less lacing. Also brighter than a stout and those yakima hops are clear. Sharp wormwoody flavor. Heavy and syrupy and well worth every bottle. Yakima, yakima, yakima, where I had a home for six months of my childhood. where the lake's beach was covered with beer pull tabs and bottle caps before littering laws and I could make a long pull tab chain in about half an hour.

This is one of those Belgian-IPA hybrids. Like a lot of others here, thought this was going to be like a DIPA. More on the maltier side...but still has some good strong bitter/citrus hop to the finish. Grabbed a single to sample, but may have to get a 6 of this to be sure. Another solid brew from Victory. It says "Black Ale" here, but really nothing black about it.

I had this two nights ago at the Green Dragon in Portland. What a mistake! Dark brown with not much head and no lacing. I don't know why, but I could smell a cheesy old sock malt aroma with hops in this one. Maybe it was a bad keg, but that's what I got. It starts out a little roasty sweet but the bitter hop kicks in quickly. Kind of soapy and not enjoyable. I was very dissapointed. I really screwed up drinking something brewed 2500 miles away when I only live 30 miles from the brewery. Maybe I'll try it again at home. Until then, the rating bombs, and it's the worst American Black I've had.

Deep brown- amber body, good cap with spotty lacing. Aromas of fruity, flowery, and citrus hops, also some caramel maltiness as well. Mouthfeel was stickey with a slight carbonation bite. Flavor is mostly about the varied hop flavors but the roasted malts are assertive. Overall a nice beer that's worth a try.

Nice beer overall. Had it on tap at the Alchemy a couple times. Dark brownish black. Nose of roasted malt, dark fruit and hops. Taste is clear, clean and effervescent. Slightly fruity again, but not overdone. Well balanced and mild.

Not quite black in color, more darker amber. Nose is juicy and floral. Very bold and strong, big dark flavor of rich dark malts, and the floral bitter hops. On the tongue it places a smooth mellow crispiness due to the carbonation.

A deep amber colored beer with a huge sudsy textured, light tan head rising above. There is great hang time onthis one. Splotches of suds eventually stick to the sides of the glass and a thick cap atop the body. The nose and taste are all about hops, floral and bittering cireic. A medium bodied well carbonated beer, I would have thought this was an IPA. But delicious anyway.

Pours out in a clear dark reddish amber colour with a dense creamy off-white head. Resinous, spicy and grassy dryish hop roma with dense sweetish undertones of black cherries, tangerine and prunes. Nearly full-bodied hoppy and really bitter notes of grass, grapefruit-peels and wormwood on solid sweetish and firm notes prunes, almonds, burnt caramel and crackers. Long bitter finish of spicy, grassy and dusty hops.
