500 ml bottle conditioned, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Lovely aroma of citrussy hops, on a background of moderately roasted malts, hints of dark chocolate. The medium dry flavour has again citrussy hops, blended with distinct roasted malts, notes of strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate and resin. The contradictory "Black IPA" style is beginning to grow on me, and this one is a fine specimen.

Quite dark color, brown lasting lacing foam head. Hoppy aroma, some fruit tones. Nice bitter taste, short lasting. Thanks Douberd for sharing this. (Velp 201504)

I love black IPA's. My two favorite beers in one and this beer is a great example. Hops and roasted malts are blended so well it leaves you wanting more. Hope to see it again at the LCBO.

Pours a dark brown colour with copper highlights. The head is big, creamy, beige, has great retention and some tiny bubbled lacing. Nice fresh hoppy nose with the roasted malt as base. Much of the same for the taste. Oily mouthfeel with a nicely balanced bitterness creating some mild dryness in the finish, but not too much. The grass is fresh everywhere, so good choice of hops in this one. Goes down very well. Was just fooled by the title, as I did not expect an Imperial American Black Ale.

A new beer at the local LCBO, and one of the top rated Black IPA's on Ratebeer. It's quite the beer. A velvery black pour gives rise to a generous cap of tanned creaminess. Hops pelt the nose right as the cap comes off the bottle, followed by notes of pine and coffee. Full bodied and slightly creamy as it dances over the tongue. Again, the citrus comes through in the flavour in flying colours, followed by some nutty roasted malt and coffee flavours.

Pours a freaking huge frothy brownish head and has a pretty dark brown appearance. Thick patchy lacing. Huge hoppy aromas right off the bat, citrusy hops, zesty and piney. Flavours are also citrus and herbal hops with notes of orange peel and coriander. Some subtle mild spices in the finish. Creamy and slick mouthfeel. Mild tingling sensation. Pretty darn good!

The beer pours a solid blackish-brown colour with a thin creamy tan coloured head. Aroma is strong on the citrusy hops, with hints of roast and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Flavour is citrus infused roasted malt with an excellent balance between the two. A very good Black IPA
