This American-style Black IPA is nearly jet black and perceived to have high hop bitterness, flavor and aroma with medium-high alcohol content, balanced with a medium body. The appearance may trick you into thinking you are about to enjoy a traditional stout beer when in fact your senses are about to be overwhelmed with our Black IPA. Juicy, fruity, floral, and pine from Pacific Northwest hops gives the beer a classic West Coast IPA hop character. The Black IPA is further characterized by a balanced and moderate degree of caramel malt and subdued dark roasted malt flavor and aroma. Hops used: Warrior, Citra, Cascade

22oz bomber pours with a nice dark body that supports a mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up modest yet playful juicy hops mixing with dark roasted malts and chocolate brownie. Yes! Smells great. The taste starts with dark roasted malts to some burnt malts that are blended with a modest yet nicely balanced array of citrus hops and spicy dank onion like hoppiness. This is all going so well together as some chocolate surfaces into the finish. This isn’t a huge rich Black IPA but it has plenty of flavor and hop to malty balance. Nice.

22oz bottle picked up at Country Wine & Spirits in Carlsbad
Pours clear dark brown with a medium sized beige head and some lacing. Aroma is pine resin, toasted malts and citrus. Flavors of roasted malts, caramel, fruity and burnt plastic (in a good way?)

Bottle: Poured a deep brown with reddish hints to the edges, head was two finger thick fluffy tan to light brown. Aroma is juicy hops, very fresh. Taste is big bold hops bitter front with a roasted coffee and malt balance. Nice spicy finish to the tongue.

Comes out of the tap a rich coffee brown with a fine-bubbled and rather persistent wheat head that leaves very generous lacing. Aroma is monumentally hoppy - it’s like sniffing a fresh bale of hay - with roast malt, caramel and coffee undertones. Woody hops dominate the hearty flavor, which is quite bitter but not fiercely so; notes of caramel, quality coffee, roast malt, even hints of molasses and licorice make themselves known. Each sip seems a little different. Robust texture is fairly thick, if not hugely fizzy. If you like stouts/porters AND IPAs, this is an absolute must!

Well balanced between roasted malts and hops. Maybe a little more on the hop side. Full bodied and tasty. Looks good most of the way. If you like this style beer ,it's well worth a try. Well done, never been disappointed by Green Flash yet.

Re-he-Healy loved the hop combo used here, as well as the Carmel malt atop the black roasted and chocolate. Hop leaning, which is just fine by me, and the most grapefruity citric yummy black ipa I've tried in some time.

Pours a not quite pitch black with a 2 finger off white head that takes it damned time going down. From what I can see it is carbonated. Aroma is very rich with the dry hops. Takes is to the extreme with fruity hops. Just a plain hop bomb. Finishes off dry. Actually a good hop bomb.
