With us, the art of brewing is a craft - not an industry. Therefore all our beers are brewed and bottled by hand. Our beer is alive - not killed by filtration or pasteurization. Therefore every single bottle has been allowed to produce its own CO2 pressure. This process renders great qualitative properties, like a good cellaring capacity and a great flavour potential. The yeast at the bottom of the bottle is a result of this. Some types of beer should be served with this yeast. In that case the bottle should be turned upside down a few times, for the yeast to mix in the beer. If one wishes the yeast to be left in the bottle, the bottle should be treated with care - preferably to stand upright for 1 week before serving. Pour carefully, preferably in one pour. This beer should be stored dark and at temperatures lower than +15 C. We recommend +8-12 C for development of the flavour potential of the beer. At fridge temperature this development stagnates.

(500 ml bottle). Dark brown colour, slightly hazy, some sediment, good head. Lovely aroma of caramel, cedar wood, nuts and cookies. Flavour is nutty and biscuity with burnt edges. Not too sweet. Aftertaste has some bitterness with burnt notes. (Some might not like the burnt part, but I do!) If Newcastle Brown is your idea of a brown ale, you're in for a surprise!

I could not really imagine spending the full $8 for roughly a pint of this. Got on clearance for 1/2 price. Might have been slightly old, as the balance didn't seem quite there and a bit on the tart side. Could have just been the way the brew is, but either way wouldn't say in the top 5-10 brown ales I had. A solid beer still, just would go other directions in the future. It did seem higher than 4.5% ABV in aroma, feel, and taste though.

a pretty nice flavorful nutty carmel brown ale. a little on the sweet side, but some bitterness present too. high carbonation, almost too much, but this ends up a good beer for the style.

A brownish-black colored ale. Nig light brown, frothy head. Some hang tome settles into ligt lacing. The aroma is a nice mix of toffee, caramel and coffee. A moderate to full bodied beer. Light carbonation and really smooth on the palate. The taste is a nice balance of bitter coffee and sweet caramel. I liked this one.

From the money pit which is vegas..
Nice colour! Dense dark brown and a small off white foamy cap with minimal lacing. The aroma is quite blunt with rich chocolate milk made with too much Brown Cow (that stuff sold anywhere now?), nuts, burnt sugar, dark roasted malts, the faintest hint of raspberry and possibly wet grass (thanks, peeps). The taste is not bad but uninspiring - less of everything, most notably the obvious chocolate... actually more than less. Slight tartness and seems to come across empty, ok malt content and an ok balance of hops with a weak fruit (citrus) taste and some leafiness (not much at all but it helps the hops be noticeable in the background while saving your mouth from an annoying amount that all too often ruins a beer of this style). Ooh - there's a bit of smooth nuttiness that I noticed after dumping in all the sludge. Medium to medium full bodied, fine carbonation and imparts a molasses and mild bitter finish. Decent for a brown which is one of my least favorite styles. -

Aroma is not strong, but malty and yeasty with an undertone of miso (a salty Japanese seaweed-based flavoring). Color is a rich dark chocolate brown with a fairly thick pale beige head. Flavor is malty with just a hint of hops and salt. Texture is smooth and just a little thin, but still pleasant and satisfying. Congratulations Red Wings!!!

Quite a suprise. It's not quite what I was expecting when I smelled and tasted it the first time. Like Drakes Hoppy Ass Brown, this is a bit of a departure from the style..and it's welcomed. The beer is a deep mahogany brown color, hazy with a nice off-white head. Aroma is caramel, some roated malts, a touch of woody smoke, caramel and brown sugar. Flavors were very earthy with the hops and malts creating a woody/peaty/earthy flavor. Slightly roasted malts with a medium bitter finish. Brown ales might lose the boring connotation if there were more made like this beauty.

Pours dark brown w/ a tall, semi creamy froth. Good hangtime reducing to a lasting spattered canopy. Aromas of dark chocolate and molases. Medium nectar w/ good carbonation creating a soft texture. Dry yet wet w/ a mild bitter souring component. Moderately roasted with the flavor spotlight on bakers cocoa. Other nuances of roasted coffee and nuts. The finish is bittered brightly w/ roasted nut shells. A refined brew showing the style well.

Thanks to pan for this one. It pours a clear dark brown color with a mld aroma of roasted nuts. Light bodied with a tangy finish, it's pretty decent.

This brown ale pours a deep black color from a 500ml bottle. Medium sized tan foamy head. Aroma is nutty, roasty and sweet. A medium bodied Brown Ale. Malts are nutty, caramel, slightly roasty and sweet. Hops are earthy and floral. Very lively carbonation. Nice balance. A very drinkable brown ale, not as sweet as one would expect, though. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Very nice. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Poured a full brown color, thin tan head, but excellent retention due to significant carbonation (the opposite end of the brown ale spectrum as New Castle!). The aroma was coffee, roasty malts, some ash, caramel, and molasses. The flavor followed the aroma fairly closely, though finishing with a mintiness. The mouthfeel was full, a touch on the sticky side for a brown. A pretty nice shot at the style, except for a slight chemical (more of a plastic than an oxidized or metal note) type flavor in the aftertaste or something.
