Pours opaque mahogany with a thin light tan head. Roast malt aroma has a peppery overtone. Flavor has malty, caramel, nutty and spicy notes, the latter mostly cinnamon and pepper; thankfully, the pepper is not as strong as in the aroma. Where’s the coffee? Texture is firm and smooth, if not too fizzy.

Trade from grummet - this strong brown manages a thick but drinkable 9% while still giving off the appearance of a nice normal but brown, with mahogany highlights. The aroma is killer - complex & enjoyable...subtle roasted malts, coffee, and a fresh hazelnut smell that I absolutely loved. The feel was almost equally as awesome, full and thick, though covering the abv expertly while also being sweet but not cloying. If there is a fault in this beer, it's that the flavor falls short of the aroma. While nothing was subtle in the nose, it was balanced and natural. The flavor, while delicious, was in your face hazelnut flavored coffee... Still a beer I'd return to often if it were more easily available. Thanks for the trade Greg.

A beautiful coupling of hazelnut coffee brewed to the right strength and seemingly served into a robust brown ale. The aroma alone demands many minutes of enjoyment, would make for a tremendous room freshener. Thick brown pour with a massive head and thick lacing. Medium bodied and easy.....I asked if this was under 7% abv seeing how it drank with the ease of a basic brown porter. This would be good at any hour of the day.

Wow. 750ml bottle split between two snifters. Bottle pour is dark brown with a tan head that laces beautiful. The aroma is fresh cracked hazelnuts. I could spend an hour just smelling this brew - unreal. The mouthfeel is well carbonated and pleasant, which makes for easy drinking and no notice of the 9 ABV. The taste is a phenomenal blend of coffee, hazelnuts, caramel malts that lend a nice biscuity taste to the coffee. This is a sipper, but it's super pleasant and top notch. Founders knows how to brew with coffee.
