Pours transparent sepia with a thick and lasting frothy tan head. Aroma yields roast malt, quality coffee, vegetable and subtle earthy tones. Flavor provides roast malt, quality coffee, earthy and chocolate character. Texture offers good smooth body and peppy fizz. Go on a bender - but please do so responsibly.

16 oz can. Pours clear light ruby brown with a medium frothy light tan head that retains fairly well and leaves little lacing.
The aroma is sweet chocolate malt and roast coffee.
The flavor is a lot of roast with some sweet nutty chocolate malt and a lot of roast coffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little thin.
Overall, a nice coffee beer. -

Sampled from can thanks to Andy! Pours clear dark brown with a tan head. I'm not a coffee drinker but the coffee aroma is just beautiful. Well balanced with a dry finish. Not a lot of finish hops and just enough coffee as to not overwhelm the toasted malt profile. Easy to drink. Fun to drink!

Pours a crystal clear dark drown with a 2 finger head that goes down fairly quickly. Aroma is extremely strong of coffee grounds. Taste is one of the most interesting of all the browns I have had. Very strong iced coffee taste that stays in your mouth for a long time. You can detects some of the roasted malts behind the coffee but it isn't much. Also a deep earthy feeling to it. The down side is that the coffee is way too strong to make it feel like a beer. Overall a good beer but not something I would keep in my fridge at all times.

Of the 10 different Surly beers I tried at the recent tap-takover at Zorbaz, this was by far my least favorite (but not surprising because of my disliking of coffee). The addition of coffee to the regular Bender makes this very one-dimensional.

I don't think I could ever have enough of this beer. During the last Beer Trip to the Twin Cities, I probably hoisted close to a dozen pints of this. It was amazing every time. Pours a dark brown colour with an off white head. Aroma is perfect. Vanilla, coffee beans and brownies on the nose. Mouthfeel is creamy and rich. Taste is sweet, balanced, nutty and obviously coffee dominated. Awesome beer all around. Will be picking up more of this on my trip to Stillwater in a couple of weeks.

A great breakfast beer indeed. Pair this with a good citrus hoppy IPA and you don't even need food for breakfast...now if they only made a smoked bacon beer... Strong coffee aroma with a nice amber darkness for color, caramel and coffee in your mouth, almost creamy, and raw coffee beans in the aftertaste. Very good beer.

Received a couple of these via a recent trade. I've sampled this in the past, but was very glad to have a couple cans to myself. I'm a big fan of well crafted coffee infused beers and this one showcases the coffee against a medium bodied brew (much like Perculator Dopplebock, another of my favorites). Enjoyed every aspect of this beer, thanks Chris!

Caddylac brought this one to me during OktoberPfist, damn glad he did! Pours like a porter; dark brown, almost black, with a nice cream-colored head the reduces to a cap and leaves delicate lacing with every sip. Watered-down black coffee aroma with some cocoa and roasted malts. Taste is black coffee-infused roasted malty goodness. Andy, Andy, Andy - glad I saved this one for last of the beers you brought to me - LOVED IT!

one dimensional for sure, but MAN is it a tasty dimension. all iced coffee. the nose, the flavor, even the feel. thin, but smooth. dark brown with a red tinge in light. covers up the original beer pretty well, which is both good and bad. if you're not a coffee person, you'd hate this. it's the most straight up coffee like beer i've ever had, and not a whole lot else.
