Smokeless Joe (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
June 17, 2010
The beer poured a dark brown, almost black colour with a thin tan ring. The aroma was roasted ,malt, coffee, chocolate, cocoa, and caramel. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied with medium carbonation, and a smooth feel. The flavour was roasted malt, coffee, toffee, some chocolate, and a nice bitter finish.

Tall head which falls fairly quickly. Ultra dark body. Strong roasted coffee aroma. Flavor? Am I drinking coffee or beer? Honestly reminds me of a cold cup of coffee after my coffeemaker has turned off for a bit. Carbonation is light. Wouldn’t necessarily buy it again.

Cool 11.2oz bottle from The Grapevine in Pocatello, ID
Appearance: Dark mahogany with a small off-white head and very little lacing in the glass
Aroma: Dried cocoa and coffee
Taste: Thin and watery mouthfeel, but loaded with cocoa and coffee flavors with some bitterness in the finish
A nice beer, full of aroma and flavor but surprisingly very thin mouthfeel.Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8
Pours a deep clear amber with inch and a half tan head. As I poured it I got a whiff of coffee, mmm. Yep, I then brought my nose to the glass and received a dose of coffee along with burnt malts. It smells like burnt coffee beans. The flavor begins with a brief sweet roasted maltiness that quickly becomes coffee and burnt malts. The taste mellows out for a while with some roasted malts, hints of chocolate and burnt malts. It ends with a pleasing coffee and burnt malt flavor.

Nov. 2012: 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Aroma of cold coffee and woodwork, hints of dark chocolate. The flavour is medium dry, with distinct notes of coffee and wood. Some hops in the finish.

A dark mahogany colored beer with a big frothy tetured light brown head rising above. The head has good hang time. Settles eventually into a moderate sized ringlet. The profile is coffee. Not bitter, just coffee, nicely brewed in a roasty malt. Moderate bodied and totally enjoyable.

Nice classy slender "bowling-pin-looking" brown bottle from the LCBO. Pours a deep mahogany-brown colour with a creamy mocha head that stays a long time and creates decent lacing. Beautiful freshly grounded coffee grains with hints of chocolate and roasted malt for aromas. Wet smooth mouthfeel that is kind of refreshing when cold. The coffee is present as well in the taste, but everything is milder than the scent. Not much bitterness, just a little dry in the middle. A real treat for those how like their coffee beers to really smell like coffee and enjoy a refreshing porter.

Cool bottle from Bearden Beer Market - thinnish black pour with a small tan head. Ample lacing. Black coffee aroma; well-roasted malts, dark cocoa. Taste is like cold black coffee with a dash of cocoa and some nuttiness to it. Good stuff.

330 ml capped bottle. Poured in a snifter a clear dark brown-red coloured Porter with a one finger beige foamy head that had a short retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. No lacing. The aroma is a cup of black coffee with dark chocolate as companion, roasted malts. The flavour is also a mug of black coffee, coffee beans, toffee, notes of fruits, cherries and oranges, spicy, vanilla. The mouthfeel is sparkling, prickling and quite ...thin. This light to medium bodied Porter has a lingering coffee bitter finish.Overall a superb Porter.
