Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders' robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter.

Dark brown pour with foamy tan head that quickly disappears. Chocolate, roasted malt and coffee aromas. The roasted malt and chocolate lead on the tongue with a hint of coffee. Velvety mouthfeel. I'm a big porter fan and this one is quite good.

Deep dark mahogany pour, nearly black, with a medium tan head. Fair amount of lace. Chocolate and toffee taste with a creamy finish. This is an outstanding beer!

Got a single from their 6-pack at the LCBO. Pours a real black colour with a good creamy beige head, long retention and some creamy lace. Coffee nose at first, but the dark fruits come out eventually with the mild yeast. The taste is smooth with the coffee/dark fruit combo. Nice roasted malts linger into the aftertaste. Hint of chocolate are faint with a nice bitterness blending with everything. A nice soft porter with lots of character that are well-blended.

Nice black porter that pours no head. Aroma has good malt and some kind of fruit smell. The mouthfeel is thick and has just a very light bitter hop taste. Over all a really smooth taste.

A most excellent porter. Nice black body topped by a brown head that lasts for days. Roasted malt with the usual suspect aromas.....coffee, cholcolate, and vanilla. Flavour is a balance of roasted maltiness and a hint of sweet chocolate. Did I mention it was a most excellent porter?

Deep black color with a one finger caramel head with low retention but leaving a constant ring.Nice aroma with lots of dark chocolate and roasted coffee.Bold and rich flavor of coffee, notes of roasted and smoked malts and earthy hops. Hints of pine, licorice and dark chocolate. Dry and bitter aftertaste with a prolonged flavor of roasted and burnt malt and earthy hops.Full and thick body with low carbonation and a velvet sensation.Incredibly balanced beer that is full of character with precise and assertive notes. Recommended for those who dig dark beers.

Solid representation of the style, just doesn't stand out above the zillion others. Roasted malts, chocolate & caramel, coffee...medium bitter at the end. Reminds me of Sierra Nevada's porter. Founders is still a little new to FL, but I think their Breakfast Stout is the way to go.

My second at World of Beer tonight. A brownish-black colored beer with a big creamy textured light tan head rising robustly above. The nose is muted. The tasting more pronounced. The overall profile is some coffee, some chocolate, lots of caramel malt. Light-medium bodied and creamy, just as a porter should be.

Nose is vinous toffee and some orange citrus notes and toasty malt. Pours an opaque dark brown body that is topped with a pale carmel colored had that is medium and leaving a nice skim coat and a hint of lace. Mouth is medium, creamy, and chewy, nicely carbonated. Carmel malts in the flavor are a bit overwhelmed by piney hops some hint of ripe fruit, a dash of sweetness, and the finish is fairly dry and hints of bitter chocolate. Interesting to try to determine the diff between stout and porter, way back stout meant stronger porter. Nowadays they are brewed in so many different ways, I guess I would say this is just a bit thiner than a stout. Fun article on this topic here http://www.beerconnoisseur.com/porter-versus-stout This is pretty decent stuff. I do like my stouts and porters to intensify as the warm slightly, and this one is becoming a bit well, a bit more of all of the above. Nicely done.
