Alpha Klaus is Alpha King's cousin. A big American X-mas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt and Mexican sugar and of course tons of strange American hops! Cheers.

Pours opaque coffee sable with a light tan head. Aroma delivers roast malt, hay and anchovy tones. Flavor features roast malt, molasses, anchovy and wood notes. Anchovies? Mouthfeel brings average body and OK fizz to the table, er, bar. Here comes Alpha Klaus, here comes Alpha Klaus, right down Alpha Klaus Lane.

Deep dark black pour with medium brown head. Substantial amount of lace left on the glass. Nutty and sweet aroma. Mouthfeel was a little thinner than expected. Chocolate and smokey taste with a somewhat dry finish. Enjoyed this one very much.

Got to love belated Christmas presents like this. Great appearance. If the head had of lasted a tad longer it would have been a ten. Medium/full very smooth mouthfeel. Aroma is a little more hoppy than roasted malt. Flavour is the opposite way around...or maybe not toward the end. Excellent stuff.

This is easily the best porter of 2006. Pours a midnight black with a generous frothy brown head. Aroma is quite unique with a lot of citrus notes and spices complementing the roasted malt and coffee hints. Flavour is quite mulkti-dimensional with the roasted notes battling on the tongue with the citrus and spices. Great beer.

Black as night pour with a licorice tarry smoke aroma. Great blend of thick dark roast flavors with hops, they work well together. Mouthfeel seems thin for the flavors and abv but I can overlook that for the flavor and aroma.

Über happy to find this Holiday hold-over in Lexington's Liquor Barn - Wishlist item! Damn near black pour with a tight tan head which is sustained leaving big lacing. Big hoppy aroma for a porter - Chocolate-pine! - with rich roasted malts, brown sugar. Wickedly rich taste with creamy cocoa, piney hops bitter, sweet cream. Awesome beer from an awesome brewery. Huge Porter - cross it off the wishlist and it did live up to expectations! Funky.

"tons os strange american hops" is right. not quite what you'd wxpect from the style...uberhoppy...a little thin, but very smooth bodied. chocolate, roasted coffee, and an abnormal amount of hops. good stuff.

I'm a sucker for dark well hopped beers and this delivered. Shared by a generous friend, I'm glad to have enjoyed a glassful of this mighty fine porter. Dark body with a huge brown head and good lacing. Roasted malts, nutty, and fruity aromas are intertwined with floral hops. Full bodied, balanced and easy on the palate. Big hoppy flavor of flowers, citrus and pine. Notes of chocolate, burnt toast, caramel and nuts. Damn good.

Thanks Travis for hooking me up. This Porter wa sunique in a sense that it was the first of its kind I every tasted where the hops presence were this strong. It poured a dark brown, almost black, color with a 2 finger light brown head and good lacing. Had a noticeable hoppy aroma with some undertones of roasted malt and wood. The flavor was more balanced with a strong coffee and burnt sugar nuances. A Very unique beer in all.
