If you like black beers which I do, you got to drink this one. The aroma is just fantastic and the mouthfeel is really thick. The taste is a gift from Norway and on I'm very thankful for.

Black with hughe light brown foam head, lacing. Aroma is coffee dominated, taste is coffee and some chocolate. good bitterness. Some toast. Nice aftertaste, went well with lamb meat and potato nudels. (Bergen 201311)

Very impressive appearance, took about 15 minutes to pour. Pours a very dark brown almost black with huge dense mocha coloured head. The head retains till the end and leaves globs of lacing. Lightly roasted malt aroma , caramel and chocolate. Strong malt flavour , slightly burnt . Chocolate and a touch of coffee and a roasty dry finish. Medium to full body and a little alcohol warmth. Another top notch beer from “naked island”.

Well, well... two Nøgne brews in a row (the other being their Underlig Jul). Huge, huge head (been a while since I saw one like this). Mocha coloured, creamy, thick lace with great retention. Dark brown colour is the beer with red highlights. Interesting nose with the roasted malts, molasses, dark fruits (prunes, dates), chocolate and hints of coffee and vanilla (even apples in the last pour). Holy smoke... that head won't go down ! The burnt malt is not as roasty in the taste, but nicely blended by the dark fruits, notes of coffee and the light hop grassiness. This is a nice strong porter that does not have the dark fruits overpowering, but is loaded with well-blended aromas and flavours. Yet, it goes down nicely.

Pours a huge foamy brownish head and has a pretty dark brown almost pitch black appearance. Head never lets up, with huge thick lacing. Aromas of toffee, caramel, breads mild barley and spiced hops. Flavours are fairly mild and not too bitter at all, pretty smooth. Have some sweet taste coming through, some earthy hops and a bit of spices. Notes of chocolate and nuts as well. Smooth creamy mouthfeel, a bit of a slick sensation on the palate. Lively carbonation with a slight warming touch. Nicely balanced, smooth and easy to drink. Very good. Would love to try other Nogne beers.

I’m a porter pounder and I have been longing to see how Nogne dealt with this style, I wasn’t disappointed. This is a porter that thinks it’s a stout in some ways. Rich dark opaque black in the glass...massive 3 finger cap like Mocha meringue. Pungent aroma of roast coffee and figs some cocoa and licorice notes. Thick body. Creamy satin mouth feel. Big roastiness, coffee, dark fruits...malty but never sweet, long decadent finish as bittering intensifies to a roasty-bitter astringence at the end. World class porter, I think I like this more than Meantime.

The beer pours a dark brown with black edges and a thin bubble light brown cap. The aroma is roasted malt, cocao, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with mild carbonation. Flavour is on the sweet side with vanilla, molasses, and chocolate flavours overwhelming the roasted malt bitterness. -

Is there nothing this brewery doesnt rock at! This porter is like a thin, flavourful tea, dark brown, small in the mouth, tastes really wet. Some slight coffee running around, something vaguely smoked or heavily toasted wood aged.... Really smooth, really light, supremely enjoyable. Unique and yet feels like it should be a benchmark. Somehow well balanced, not bitter, certainly not sweet, not dry, very wet. I don't know any other way to describe it.

Served on tap in a standard pint glass at TJ's. This beer poured a very dark brown/black with a mocha head which dissaptes completely. Lacing is ample and lasting. Nose is chocolate, caramel, malts, and dark fruits. Taste is sweeter with dark chocolate, roasted coffee, licorace and some dark fruits. Hops add some citrus and a welcome bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium with decent carbonation. FInish is a little sticky but not unpleasantly so. All-in-all, this was a nice offering I would try again for sure.

Pours black as night with a decent tan head. Lacing for days. Aroma and flavor of chocolate, coffee, dark fruit. Nifty mouthfeel. Very nice, I really like it - alot.
