I didn't really enjoy this beer that much the flavor was boring, citrus flavors and a lot of hop bite , I tried it from a sample pack and didn't know what to expect. I probably won't plan on trying this beer again.

Slightly hazy amber colour with a big off-white, long lasting, fluffy and full of thick patchy lacing. Hoppy aromas over caramel malts. These hops turn on a greener grassier note, which is less appealing than what it was at first. Flavours of milder hops with some fruitiness from the malts. A regular decent Pale Ale.

Sampled at RFD Washington, part of Beer Gazetteer 2003. Also 12 oz bottle with KCC 4. Cap says, "Don't let Attraction become a Distraction." Opened with a pop and poured with the tallest, fastest-building head I have ever seen. I got a 4" head off of a 4 oz pour. Crazy! Yellow-orange color. Fruity aroma. Flavor also picks up a floral and fruity blend. A little thin-bodied for my taste, but probably OK for style. Much better from keg. I think its delicate quality will be best enjoyed fresh. Not particularly impressive, but enjoyable. Good session brew.

Average at best. Poured a light orange color. Head didn't stay around long. Aroma was under hopped carmel. Flavor was much the same some citrus jumpped in there. average beer.

Pours yelow copper with a medium foam head. Decent lacing on the glass. Malty aroma. Watery mouthfeel. Lightly hopped with a citrus undertone. All in all it is OK, but definitely missing something.

I found this angel to be rather smooth with a head that falls apart quickly. I like its pure pale ale flavor that leves you wanting to down 12 of these puppies.

bottle, 05.14.04 Pours an orangey amber, practically no head after an instant, moderate lacing. Citrus and malts on aroma but nothing oustanding. Flavors follow suit. The commercial description claims that this beer will offer me direction...well, at least it seems mostly on style.

    ~ Initial Review (bottle), 01-09-2003:
I wasn't sure what to expect from this, since (like almost everything else from Magic Hat) the label says next-to-nothing about the style of beer within the bottle. That having been said, I enjoyed this pale ale. And like many New England-based pale ales, this is much more along the lines of an English vice American Pale Ale -- in other words, you're not fighting the hops tooth-and-nail to find the maltiness. Yet another winner for Magic Hat.

    ~ Re-review (bottle), 05-24-2004:
A standard from the Magic Hat folks, that has all the pros *and* cons of that particular brewery. That is to say, a nice "alternative" outlook on the hop- and malt-profiles (that would be a "pro", in case you weren't sure!)

But the aroma of this beer has always been a bit quirky -- possible peculiar house yeast strain? This is the only beer I've had from Magic Hat (besides their infamous #9), but I surely plan on looking for this oddity in any other of their beers tha cross my path.

But the long-and-short of it is that still isn't bad -- just odd enough to sit up and take notice, though....

Magic Hat Fat Angel poured a light copper color. It tasted like a very mild pale ale as I didn't find it to be that hoppy like most pale ales. I found this to be a very drinkable session beer that had a slight hop taste with a sweetness and a very mild hint of citrus. As someone who doesn't like pale ales for the most part I liked this one, but I can't give it high marks as I know that it is not a great beer within it's style(not enough hops).

Poured light brown with a nice big fat head. Virutally no aroma at all, but the taste was nice a light with just the right amount of hop presence. Could be a little fuller. This would be a good session brew...I could pound down a few of these right quick.

Bottle: Poured an amber looking ale with a nice huge head with good retention. Aroma is quite hoppy and some sweetness can be detected. Taste is quite sweet at first and includes a lot of malt with a medium dry finish. A bit of citrus taste (orange) is also included in here - orange This tastes more like an APA then English Pale Ale; anyway it is enjoyable but nothing to write home about.
