With a little creative curiosity, we used spent bourbon casks, fresh from decanting, and filled them with our very own Kentucky Ale. From barrels that once held the finest bourbons of Kentucky, we present Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, a smooth, golden elixir unlike any other. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrel. We attribute this to what the bourbon maker calls the “angel’s share”. Elegantly smooth and modestly carbonated, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a fine sipping ale with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted Kentucky bourbon. On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate creamy head. Distinct aroma of bourbon, oak and vanilla. The mouthfeel is fairly light for its strength. Medium dry flavour, again with distinct notes of bourbon, oak and vanilla. Good beer, but demands that you like bourbon (I do). A little more hoppy bitterness would not hurt, though.

poured a dark carmel color with a large white head that did not last long. Has a light smell of bourbon and some fruit. Has a light taste of bourbon thats watered down and lots of carmel and some fruit maybe raisins not sure. No lingering after taste would drink again.

On tap at World of Beer, Key West. Attractive pour of clear dark orange and a brief white head. Mild aroma of bourbon and dark fruit, I'd guess raisin. Flavour had the fruit along with caramel and the bourbon. Obvious alcohol notes as well. Solid mouthfeel. Touch of sweetness to finish, but not cloying. Finally got a Kentucky rating.

This is really pretty in a glass and looks like bourbon poured in a glass. Bad thing is it taste like a glass of bourbon all the ice has melted. I'd have a hard time thinking this is actually a beer.

A lot like a bourbon and soda, fizzy and thin with lots of mild booze notes. Not really bad but the beer background is so week I wonder why I wouldn't just sip some real bourbon with water back? Not a real complex brew but also not bad.

U got a crytalline orange-yellow colored beer. A two finger fiamy textured white head rises above. And that head stays around for awhile. Settles into a thin ringlet. Everything about this beer in nose and taste says, bourbon. Light caramel notes in the tasting. Some grassiness. Light and smooth.

Pours a beautiful clear coppery amber with a thick and rather persistent fluffy ivory head. Malty aroma has a strong, oaky overtone of bourbon barrel and a hint of caramel. Bourbon and oak dominate the flavor, but not too much, letting through malty and subtle fruity notes plus a caramel hint. Firm texture has OK fizz and leaves a nice bourbon-barrel finish. I hope that this is a year-round beer and not a one-and-done special.

Pours a clear honey color with a small head which leaves no lacing, decent retention. Bubbling is seen through the glorious translucent amber. The aroma is vanilla and coconut dominate with the bourbon smell of sweet butterscotch. The taste is smooth bourbon and malty taste, followed by a strong medium bodied vanilla and coconut taste. Decent carbonation is present. Watch the high ABV if you drink more then 1.

This is the new "in" flavor and I want to know what bourbon factory went out of business. It has a nice smooth vanilla/bourbon flavor and goes down so smoothly the next thing I knew it was finished. The only thing I want to know now is why would I just order a good amber and throw in half shot of good bourbon?

Thanks, Lou. Improves as it warms. Toward the end I wished I'd have poured it in a brandy snifter. Vanilla and oak aroma and flavors with a bit of alcohol. Caramel color with a faint head. Sweetfinish.hi
