Heller Hound Bock is a crisp and malty Maibock, brewed with a special combination of Vienna and Munich malts. With a rich mouth feel and a subtle hop finish this is the perfect brew for toasting the sun's return.

This beer is gold in color. NO foam from pour but left a ring of bubbles. It has a dry crisp aroma. Subtle malt flavor anf the taste became more bland as I drank. Initial flavor was good and seemed to have multiple levels but no other sip was as good as the first. Bland aftertaste. The Ralph Steadman artwork for the labels is the best thing about this beer.

12oz. bottle. Poured a light amber color with a nice lacing cap. Aromas of cooked cereals with a little toasted toffee and some grassiness. Chewy malts in the front like a Marzen but the balancing hopping is woody-earthy like spalters and tattnangers...slick viscous mouth feel...finish is wet and warming with some sweetness and a strange taste like custard. Not my favorite offering from this brewer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear golden with a thin white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film.
The aroma is sweet toasted malts, corn, biscuit and a little fruitiness.
The flavor is sweet, slightly sugary, toasted malts with some Noble hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium and slightly watery.
Overall, not my favorite style, but this was better than I expected (although, I wasn't expecting much). -

This isn’t a bad bock. The medium amber body carries a good head. The aroma is slightly sweet malts and while the body is lighter than some other bocks, it still is a malty lager. Light and crisp enough to be refreshing, but malty enough to be satisfying.

The aroma is malty and maybe bready-like with maybe even some caramel with some slight sweetness. The appearance is a light-brown to bronze with a smaller head that is white and not as big as I suspected it would be but leaves decent lacing. The mouthfeel is a bit too light and should be slightly heavier with some good malty balance with relatively decent complexity with a decently coating pallet. The flavor is pretty malty with some sweetness with some caramel or molasses present with a malty aftertaste with some slight bitter that is pretty smooth as well as refreshing. Overall, this is not a bad bock and is smooth with some sweetness with slight bitter with overtones of caramel.

OBF 2004. Orange gold color. Aroma is orange, caramel and sweet. A medium to full bodied bock. Malts are fruity and sweet. Touches of oranges and apricots. Hops are slightly spicy and kind of floral. Nicely balanced. A lager with a slight alcohol kick. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Poured a golden color with a small white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of bread, caramel, and light alcohol. Taste of toasted dough, caramel, light citrus malts, and a touch of alcohol in the finish.

Pours a lager-like clear yellow, but with a creamier head. Smells like fresh baked something, maybe sweet bread. Similarly, the flavor mimicks yeasty baked goods and is balanced by a moderate bitterness. Finishes clean.

Sampled from bottle. Pours gold with a creamy white head. Odd color for a bock, but no problem, be creative dogs. Aroma is malty with a bit of hops (citrus). Flavor is bready with a bit of caramel and just a hint of mocha. Light to medium bodied and moderately carbonated. An interesting take on the style, and a better than decent beer.

Citrus and caramel aroma. A very light colored bock. Its a dark golden appearance with a moderate head and good lacing. Flavor is quite sweet with a punch you in the face amount of malt. Some citrus fruit, vanilla extract, and caramel present in the flavor. Some alcohol is noticeable in the aftertaste. Overall its a nice spring time seasonal offering but nothing out of this world.
