Tampa is a long way from our home base in Chico, but the guys down yonder in Florida sure can brew a great beer. Our friends at Cigar City find inspiration in the Cuban roots of their hometown, and that Latin-inspired flair is evident in Yonder Bock. This tropical take on the Maibock adds a Latin island flair to this traditional German style beer. Enamored with the Latin roots of their Tampa home, Cigar City always tries to channel a bit of local history into their beers, e.g. the Humidor Series whose beers age on Spanish cedar as an homage to Tampa’s cigar making roots. Only five years old, this brewery deserves the fast praise that’s come its way.

Comes out of tap hazy dark, coppery amber with buff head. Strong aroma is fruity, pear and apple with a snippet of cherry; hoppy amid malty notes appear on the background. Fruity flavor has malty, hoppy, and subtle caramel notes singing backup. Smooth texture is firm and quite fizzy. Go yonder for this Bock!

Sampled on 12/25/2014. This heller bock pours a deep amber color from a 12oz can. Medium sized white foamy head with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet, tropical (mango, pineapple and coconut?) and bready. A medium bodied heller bock. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal. Decent carbonation. Lots of flavors going on here, tropical, melon and bready. Interesting beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

A deep, bright, amber colored beer with a big frothy textured white head rising above. There was good hang time on the head. But there is no lacing, Just a ghost of a thin cap and thinner ringlet. There's a dark fruitiness in the nose. Lots of sweet malt, fruit and eartiness in the tasting. Heavily slick on the tongue.

12 oz can. Pours clear light amber with a huge rocky off-white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet sugary malts and tropical fruit with a little alcohol.
The flavor is sweet roasty / smokey malts with a lot of fruit and a medium bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and creamy.
Overall, a nice maibock. I like the fruit addition. -

Took a few minutes for this to open up, but once it did I really enjoyed it. As the description states it's a rather full bodied blend of malt and tropical fruit. Bitter and sweet in abundance and very well balanced.

This is a good resemblance of the description. Maybe expected a little more malt since it's a bock, but since it is on the thin side, it let's the tropical notes of the hops stand out. Very well balanced. Appearance is a clearish lighter brown with little orange in there. So far, liking all of these samples in the Beer Camp. Only one of each though, so may have to get another 12-pack!
