About:
My name is Josh and I live in Newnan, Georgia which is a Southwestern suburb of Atlanta and I have a college degree in Political Science and want to get a Graduate Degree in Public Administration. Currently, I am the head bartender at Taco Mac-Newnan which is a bar that specializes in craft beer from around the world. With 100 taps and 300 bottled beers the choices are endless. I love craft beer and reviewing them and hope to write for a publication one day that specializes in craft brew and I am currently writing a book, if you will, on my experiences with the varieties of beer that are at my finger tips and I have rated and reviewed just over 1300 beers from around the Globe.

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

While traveling on business in Louisville, KY I picked this bottle up at Liquor Barn. Aroma is first off boozy for sure followed by strong notes of raspberry as well as caramelized sweetness. The appearance is a golden, bronze in color and has amazing clarity with a very carbonated and fizzy head on top that is lacy and diminishes quickly; this beer has legs! Mouthfeel is overall very vinious and is extremely dry, almost like pure alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and has a lot of caramelized sugars going on and the aftertaste is boozy with some malty body. Overall, a damn fine ale here for sure and would age great. This seems a bit thin however, alcohol is present as it warms and can be a bit harsh. Sam does it again though...thumbs up!

The aroma is hard to experience and could be more aromatic but I could detect hints of malty light to mild chocolate. The appearance is a reddish dark amber color with a minimal head that is tan in color. The mouthfeel is light to medium-bodied and is not too complex and is wet on the pallet. The flavor is light and sweet with hints of chocolate with some robustness with overtones of chocolate. Overall, my first experience with a milk stout like this and was very smooth and easy to drink with a crisp finish. It was not too bad and was a different kind of stout and was interesting to experience. Alcohol hidden well.

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

Aroma is hearty with faint overtones of ripened banana and dark plum with maybe some figs coming through and is very clean and inviting. The appearance is a deep mahogany to sherry in color with a large and frothy head on top that is light-tan in color and diminishes to a light and thin lacing that sticks to the glass. The mouthfeel is medium to full-bodied with decent malty complexity as well as balance with a palate that is smooth and creamy. The flavor is malty, bready, sweet, robust, as well as a bit spicy to some extent and maybe a bit nutty with an aftertaste that is of sweet malt and a finish that is robust but light, well-rounded but smooth and pretty good.

    Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Aroma is very effervescent with tons of nutmeg, pumpkin, and cloves coming through as well as some slight cinnamon and bready malt. Appearance is a deep, reddish-orange in color with a full sized head on top that is light-tan in color and diminishes to a creamy, light lacing that adheres to the glass. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and very complex as well as balanced nicely with a pallette that is a tad dry-like as well as a bit thin. Flavor is of tons of spice like cinnamon, nutmeg, and strong pumpkin pie with an aftertaste that is bready with some peppery clove and a finish that is wet-like and tasty and perfect for Fall weather for sure.

  • Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8

Aroma is dark chocolate and burnt malts with overtones of coffee. Appearance is a rich, smooth black and looks velvety with a thin, light-tan head on top that dissipates. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, not heavy and is pretty well-rounded, almost syrupy. Flavor is chocolate, dark malt, and bitterness on the back end. Overall, sold brew here, more of an imperial stout as opposed to a Belgian-style with flares of foriegn/export Stout thrown in the mix.
