Terrapin Midnight Project Brew Two 2009. Sometime around midnight in a city nobody can agree on, the idea for Terrapin and Left Hand to brew a collaboration beer was born. Depth Charge is the second in the series of one-time releases between the two breweries. Be wary of the calm before the storm. This creamy, deeply delicious milk stout will seduce you into submission while the explosion of hand roasted gourmet espresso will blow you into next week. We Shall Drink in the breweries. We Shall Drink in the pubs, We Shall Drink the the comfort of our homes. We Shall Never Surrender.

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

The aroma is hard to experience and could be more aromatic but I could detect hints of malty light to mild chocolate. The appearance is a reddish dark amber color with a minimal head that is tan in color. The mouthfeel is light to medium-bodied and is not too complex and is wet on the pallet. The flavor is light and sweet with hints of chocolate with some robustness with overtones of chocolate. Overall, my first experience with a milk stout like this and was very smooth and easy to drink with a crisp finish. It was not too bad and was a different kind of stout and was interesting to experience. Alcohol hidden well.

    Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

Pours opaque and one shade north of black with a thick, fine-bubbled tan head. Rich roast coffee aroma has smoky undertone and nutty hints. Flavor is like a fine roast coffee with a malty undertone and hints of molasses and hazelnuts. Texture is smooth and yet quite fizzy and tingly, leaving a smoky and slightly sweet finish.
