Rated May 2008. Pours dark dark brown with light brown head. The aroma is coffee, a hint of chocolate mixed with bosco, spicy mustard sauce and mild roasty malts. The taste is somewhat different than the aroma with rich malts, chocolate and coffee. Wow, this is rich and nearly decadent in its opulence. Into the finish mild burnt malts and malt astringency add some balance to the experience. It has a healthy dose of YUM.

From bottle at RBESG 2016 in Barcelona, Grand Tasting. Black colour, small tan head. Roasty aroma and flavour, distinct coffee notes, fairly dry. Better than average.

Pours out almost a solid black color with no head. The aroma is just of deer roasted malt. The mouthfeel is thick like heavy weight oil. The taste is like a fresh pot of cold coffee. This is really like a creamy cold coffee.

KnoxBeerCrew tasting brew. Thinnish black pour, bubbly tan head, some lacing. Black coffee aroma, toasted coffee beans, toasted malts, lightly sweet. Same with the flavor: toasted coffee beans, lightly sweet. A tad watery compared to other stouts. Still flavorful.

Dark brown pour,no head or lace but oils the inside of the glass.Coffee galore in the aroma and the flavour.Complimenting this beer with Guinness flavoured sharp cheddar.Great night cap but think it would be better with bacon in the morning.

This is a great breakfast beer, its all coffee. Big nose, big flavor. Great way to start brew day. Little one dimensional compared to more dynamic breakfast stouts but it doesn't claim to be one of those and its really tasty.

OOoooOOOOoooo. This one is big and bold. Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel has a nice bite. Flavor is bettered by the bitterness. Nice rendition.

no subtlety here...a blast of roasted coffee in the nose and more in the flavor, over a solid medium bodied roasty toasty stout. i'd forgot stouts were their thing til i took the first sip. very bittersweet, excellent stout, especially for coffee lovers like me.

Aroma is just like fine coffee with a smoky overtone - hardly like beer at all, but most inviting! It pours a deep opaque sable, nearly black, with a very thick, fine-bubbled tan head. Flavor is rich and very smoky, maybe a wee bit too smoky. It has a tasty chocolate undertone and hints of toffee and molasses. Texture is thick, smooth, fairly tingly, and quite satisfying. Overall, an immensely pleasing stout.

Oh man, was this good. Big thick dark brown hue. Huge coffee and burnt malt flavors. Thick molasses & syrup feel to it. All this with a nice low key hop balance. If it weren't for the fact that it had no head at all, I would have given it a higher rating. Well done Bells! You guys continue to impress.
