The better of the two beers from this brewer tried today. Darker in colour than the Fresh Hop with a better balance between the caramalt and floral hop aroma and nicely balanced in flavour, although still weak. Not a brewer I'll look for anytime soon.

First off, lets just say that this name is a real misnomer. You see pale ale on a beer from the west coast and you think APA which means hops. There's not a hop to be found here. I had this both in draft and bottled form today and there's a distinct difference. The draft was very mellow, caramelly, a bit tea-like. No bitterness. The bottle has a bit more character to the flavor and brings in a bit of graininess. Either way, it's immensely drinkable and there's nothing bad about it. A little on the blah side, but something worht drinking when you're not worried about the beer.

Medium gold color. Medium head. Aroma is malty and slightly floral. A light bodied pale ale. Malts are slightly sweet and somewhat nutty. Hops are kind of mild, slightly citrusy and floral. Kind of mild tasting for a pale ale. Very drinkable and would be a great beer on a warm lazy summer day.. Hmmm maybe that’s where it got its name. DOH. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours a beautiful shade of amber with excellent clarity and tall, creamy head. The aroma is grainy with subtle hopping. Very average flavor: unexciting, uninspired, perhaps even lazy. The body is a little thin, but adequately carbonated. A lesser Grant's.

Dark amber color with traces of a head on top. The aroma is oranges and ginger bread. There is also a wooden oak character. The flavor is oranges with dry oak and some carrots. There are some hints of fresh tobacco. The body is slightly thin and makes for a refreshing beer.

Bottle at Andys. Clear orange in color with a nice head. Clear orange in color with a hoppy aroma. Decent flavor. Malty. Not bad. Enjoyable.

I liked the look of this beer dark amber in colour , darker than I expected it to be. nice solid pure white head that stays a while. mm nice aroma too..pretty malty in character..with a good hop smell. Again a nice chocolaty(mild) malt taste hits my tongue, this is followed by a sort of ice tea flavour then a good hoppy after tatse..this beer has amarillo hops in case that made any difference ( says so on the label LOL). Very pleasant on the palate I like the mix of flavours yet its light weight. Very drinkable I would say..but more a fall beer than a summer,,its just a wee bit too heavy

A mighty fine looking brew. Copper with with a big-bubbled white head. OK, so I got the nice stuff out of the way. I don’t care for this stuff. Such a shame, because I was really starting to like Bert Grants stuff too. Oh well, two steps forward and one back I suppose. Way to mild with not a lot going on except for a mild hop taste. Now the head is gone, so all of my nice comments are out the window. Ummm, nice chair on the label?

Sampled on draft at McNellie's, Tulsa. Pours a mostly clear copper with a thin white head. Aroma is very mild, with just a hint of ripe fruit - I was expecting more from this APA. Flavor is balanced, with rich caramel malts and plums. Medium-bodied, moderately carbonated and smooth. A good pale ale.

A slight malty aroma with a bit of fruit coming through. It poured a nice amber color with a slight head that diminished into a fine layer of lace. The flavor was fairly good....a little aftertaste, but not harsh.
