Interesting brew... Definitely more English than American porter. Caramel, roast and chocolate aroma. Similar flavor with some coffee aspects as well, and quite earthy. It's also gotta ash thing going on that is simultaneously intriguing and off putting. Thanks to Thomassova for some VA beer.

I had this beer at Blue 5 in Roanoke, VA on New Years evening 2011. This beer was the best of the night for my money. The beer was dark, roasted in aroma, and chocolatey in flavor. My only complaint was that it was a tad thin. I'd have more from this brewery.

Poured a dark brown with fluffy head and good lacing. Aroma was roasted malts. Flavor was roasted chocolate and coffee. Bitter hops in the finish. Good beer. "

Got this in a sampler, Pours a dark, dark body, head burnt marshmallow color and is huge and creamy. Dark brown sugar aroma with a roasty maltness. Some chocolate comes through as well. Slight chocolate and sweet caramel notes, but nothing like the aromas at all--very subdued. Smooth milk chocolate mouth feel with a slightly bitter finish and bitter coffee bean aftertaste.

Pour was dark with a fluffy head and decent lacing. Nice roasted and milky aroma. The flavorwas strong roast and milk chocolate, with some coffee and hop bitterness. The mouthfeel was overcarbonated and a tad thin with the flavor. A pretty good beer, regardless.

Pours a dark, dark brown with a good head. The aroma is chocolate and a touch of roast. The flavor seems to be lackign something, but overall, this is a tasty beer.

Pours a nice deep dark color which give way to a light brown head. The head turns to a film and lasted the whole ride to the bottom of the glass. The aroma of roasted malt and molasses is your first introduction to this porter. Taste is very, very good. Malt with a touch of earthy tones… coffee, maybe some chocolate? A very easy Porter to drink. I recommend this one to all!

After a tasty albeit under-hopped St George’s IPA, and a fairly lousy St George’s Golden Ale, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this Porter. Thankfully, this is a pretty good Porter overall.

Deep dark brown, with a very muted tan head of foam on top. Definite coffee aroma, through and through. Flavor features more coffee notes, along with a dry roastiness, and slightly chewy maltiness. A bit drying in the mouthfeel, but not unappealingly. Finish is nice, and very drinkable overall.

Interesting that this small brewery’s most obscure offering is also it’s best. Recommended.

Dark black color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel and roasted malts. A medium bodied porter. Malts are nice and roasty with a nice chocolate and coffee flavor, Slightly spicy hops. Nicely balanced. Soft carbonation. Smooth flavor. Nice porter, this one surprised me, it was much better than I was expecting it to be. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This beer poured a dark brown/black color with dark burgandy shining through when put to light, a nice rocky light brown head formed and left great lace. Aroma was roasted malt and coffee. Mouthfeel was medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Flavor was sweet malt, chocolate, and coffee notes.
