To achieve that goal, we hired Andy Rathmann, an exceptional brewmaster who spent years working in Europe, and we use only the finest grains available. We produced our first beer, St. George Golden Ale, in late August 1999. We brought our India Pale Ale (IPA) and our Porter to the public the following year. From humble beginnings as a "Brew on Premises" BOP establishment located in a store-front in a strip mall in Virginia Beach in 1991, B. A. Brewmeister has come of age as a brewery of craft beers with its 'brew haus' and 'celler' sharing a 10,000 square foot facility located at 204 Challenger Way in Hampton, Virginia. B.A. Brewmeister currently trades as The St. George Brewing Company & Olde Richmond Ale Company. Throughout the calendar year, the brewery produces fourteen styles of craft beers: Spring Lager, Summer Ale, Fall Bock and Winter Stout are the seasonals. The mainstay of the style listing include: English India Pale Ale [IPA], Golden Ale, Porter, Nut Brown, American Brown Ale, German style Pilsner Lager, and Red Ale under the St George Brewing Company label and are packaged in both kegs and 12 oz bottles. American Pale Ale, Red Ale, and Brown Ale are packaged in kegs and 20 oz bottles under the Olde Richmond Beer Company label and are commonly known as Batch No. 11, Batch No. 6, and Batch No. 4 respectively. In additions we have been selected by Bob and Ellie Tupper to brew and bottle their Hop Pocket Ale and Pilsner which will be commercially available soon. Along the Southeastern Coast of the United States, our beer styles can be found in grocery stores, pubs, taverns, and fine wine establishments in Washington D.C., North and South Carolina, Maryland, and of course, the Commonwealth of Virginia. We contract brew fine draft beer for The traveler on the Outer Banks of North Carolina as "Kill Devil Hills Ale" and a early English "Tavern Ale" recipe designed for Colonial Williamsburg. Our various beer styles are no stranger to awards and have continuously won high marks in beer competitions nationally and internationally. So take a journey in this web site to learn more about our award winning beer styles, our brewing process, our facility, our merchandise, and our exceptional staff.
