In a word..dusty. The beer came across as the epitome of a beer that smells and tastes dusty. Not sure how old the bottle was, but perhaps that’s the culprit. The aroma, as mentioned, was flat out dust/dirt (perhaps that the UK hops?). Lightly sweet with some malt to keep the dust in check. The beer was the color of watered down cola, with a nice off-white/khaki tan head, frothy with some nice bubbles. Flavor of dust, honey, and a touch of metal.

Orange-yellow color with a thin white head and light lacing. The nose is fruit and flowers, light pine. medium-bodied with a somewhat rough mouthfeel. Flavors are hop-bitter around the edges but with an unusual sweetness and little malt character. Finish has that floral-sweetness but turns rather dry and sourly-bitter. This IPA pours a deep orange gold cold color from a 120oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, good retention with strong lacing. Aroma is malty and grassy, semi sweet with hints of orange. A medium bodied India Pale Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet, with a touch of orange. Hops are earthy and floral. Much more in the English style of IPA, must be all those fuggle hop eh? Nice balance. Good carbonation. Mild bitterness, that seems to last a long long long time. Very nice IPA. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

A hazy amber beer with a thin and fast disappearing orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of grass. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of grass and straw, leading to a dry hoppy and bitter end, but the body is thin.

Pleasantly surprised with this IPA. Good pour with substantial head, head retention, and lacing. Firm, nutty taste with hoppy aroma, full mouthfeel, and hoppiness. Needs a little more maturity as this beer is a bit too edgy. I'll try another soon and compare notes....

nice off orange/copper color with a nice off white head is the first to greet you. Your second greeting is the fine aroma of hops and malt. As this ale meets your taste buds the hops hit you. I found the hop flavor all they way though. Not having too much experience with the IPA family, I found this a nice change and will look for more IPA to compare this with. Overall, an enjoyable IPA. Try it

Had a pint of this at the Hilltop Brewing Company -- a place that serves decent enough house brews, but will always be (in my mind) a good place for guest beers too.
This reminds me of many other typical East Coast Ales. "What's that you say?", you ask? Only in that the malt profile seems to not have been totally forsaken in lieu of the almighty hop. That may be good news for some folks -- and for that, I salute you. But personally, I really need to have more hops, especially if we are supposed to be talking about an IPA.
Flavorful enough, but I just can't imagine this lasting 6+ months aboard a sailing ship, on it's way to the troops stationed in India. Not nearly bitter enough, or just plain strong enough to really match the style. If this were labeled a Pale Ale, I suspect that I might be much more infatuated with this beer.
Not bad, but just not enough of, well, everything, for my tastes.

This beer poured a medium copper/orange color with a nice white head leaving thin lace. Aroma was lightly hoppy. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, very smooth. Flavor was a refreshing hoppy flavor balanced off wuite well with some good malt cheractor. This was a good beer, but a poor representation of the style. The flavor wasnt quite hoppy enough to taste like a true IPA. IMO this tasted like an above average ESB, not an IPA.

Orange-copper color. Medium sized, fizzy head. Little lacing. Somewhat of a wheat aroma for an IPA. Starts with a light bodied tingle. Had a piney flavor, little malt, dry bitter finish, and odd sweetness as it warmed. I didn't care for this IPA but I have a feeling that it wasn't in best condition. I got it at a big liquor store in Virginia.
