A beer with amber color, a bit hazy at that, slightly off white head, decent size but short lasting. A persistent ring of lace on the top of the beer lasts to the last drop is gone. A little hint of wheat on the nose, yeast and something a bit fruity? Maybe the coriander? The mouthfeel is a bit thin to start them builds up. The taste is light and sweet to start, a tad fruity, then bitter midway through and dry on the finish. Very “Weissen Bierish” in flavor to start but the coriander and salt makes this a bit different. Overall enjoyable. I think I would enjoy this more on a warm summers eve. It is refreshing (I think) and light on the pallet, easy to drink. Only 3 different types of this beer listed , shame….

Pours a nice hazy blonde color, big bubbles to a big head that fades big time to a very thin lace on the glass. Nose of grain and a touch of sweetness. Fizzy in the mouth and sweet malt to the tongue. Little to no hops noticed but a pleasant flavor. Dry finish. Overall a nice brew. I can’t really nail this one down, don’t know why. I do know it is enjoyable and is a smooth brew on a hot muggy day.

Dark brown in color, thick head fades fast and leave a very thin lace. Wheat hits the nose, hints of bananas and cloves visit the journey. I pick up a small hint of something sweet but can’t put my finger on it…caramel perhaps? Taste is almost a shadow of the aroma but with a slight dry, crisp finish. I enjoyed this beer. It has a nice all around balance of flavors and paired up nicely with some wurst that I grilled. It also went well with the second bottle solo. Not too much experience with this style but I enjoyed this one…try it if you find it.

2006 Vintage This dopplebock pours deep dark brown with a thick tight tan head on top of the glass. The head slowly fades to a thick ring around my glass. The smell is sweet malt, toffee and caramel with a hint of a roasted feel in the air. Taste is sweet and sticky with an all malt front. Not a syrup type of sweet but a well rounded malt sweetness. There is that bit of a roasted flavor washed in the middle but it ends up sweet in the finish. I enjoyed this beer. This is what a dopplebock should be. Overall a well done dopplebock that I will try and enjoy again and again

2006 vintage Deep brown brew with reddish hues. Thick tan head that doesn’t hang to long but gave way to a thick long lasting lace around my glass. Aroma is of dark fruit raisins, fig and plum. Even a hint of malt creeps in along with a whiff of alcohol. Taste is sweet and sticky. Taste is a whirlwind of flavors from the dark fruit to caramel to hops and malt…yum! And at the end is the warming taste of the alcohol. This is a slow sipper for sure at 10%. Overall a wonderful barley wine one I’m sure to stock pile around the house for the upcoming winter. Don’t pass this one up!
