A bold brown in color with a big frothy textured light tan head rising above. There was decent hang time on the head. it settled eventually settles with no lacing. Roasty nose. Bold roastiness, some nuttuess, grassiness and dark fruit. Well balanaced, effervescent and refreshing.

If there can be a guilty pleasure in a beer, this is it for me. One of the joys of a December trip to see the Badgers play hockey is a chance to try this. A deep rust coloured beer. Aroma is sweet malt, some dark fruit, and floral hops. Flavour is well balanced. An easy drinking beer!

Courtesy of pfoxyjohn. Pours a ruby/brown mahogany color with an initially medium cream head that shrinks to a sustained ring leaving some lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of slightly toasted malts, a bit of almost burnt toast, slight raisin and some hops. Taste is malty with a slight sweetness then a touch of hops. Thank you John.

This beer poured a dark brown color with a fluffy tan head. Had a sweet malty aroma. Roasted malt was present in the entry followed by some grainyness midpalate. Had a pleasent malty finish.

Bottle from perhaps Bockyhorsey. Pour was full brown with mahoganey hues, nice initial head and good lacing. The aroma was nutty, bready, caramel, chocolate, dark Munich type malts. Flavor was dead on for the style, a fullness of a doppelbock almost. Nuts, bread, caramel, chocolate, dark fruits, light spicey notes, a touch of licorice (some black patent in there?) really just quite nice. Haven’t had a notable bock in a while, this one is one, though Thanks, Bill (I hope I’m attributing proper credit where it is due)

It's April 13th, and we had a dusting of snow on the ground overnight, so I guess It's OK to open up a Winter Brew. An amber-hued dark brown color with a thin tan head. Not much nose - just a faint roasted malt aroma. Smooth and medium-bodied, with an interesting array of flavors that I can't quite place; maybe mildly-roasted sweetish fennel with light soy sauce -- but not as bad as that sounds. It's actually kind of pleasantly unusual, or maybe unusually pleasant? Not your ordinary bock, that's for sure. Somewhat of a tangy-sweet finish; I'm intrigued. Too bad (?) winter is over.

This beer pours a dark brownish black colour with a small thin tan head. Aromas of coffee, spice, carmel and nutmeg. Heavy and full in the mouth, semi-sweet, finishes smooth with a soft touch of hops.

Poured a nice brown with a hint of red and it started with a nice off white head that ended up clinging to the edges. The aroma was kind of euro lagery, I taste the alcohol and the malt and it ends there. Very lager tasting for a dark beer.

I love Sprecher brews, but this one was a little disappointing. Not a bad beer, but it doesn't live up to the others I've had. Pours a dark brown with a thin white head. Aroma is light, slightly malty. Flavor is slightly hoppy with hints of chocolate and coffee.

Bottle. Great looking beer, very dark brown color with a tall, brown head. Bitter, hoppy aroma. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavor is bad, and I cannot tell you what it tastes like. Maybe grass. Worst Sprecher beer I've had.
