pours a rather hazy yellow-brown, as befits an unfiltered wheat beer, with a fairly robust, coarse white head, which retains fairly well. The lacing is fairly thick, scattered, and patchy. The aroma was prominently apple notes. The aroma is strongly reminiscent of the Jolly Rancher apple candy. In addition a slight hint of wheat in the aroma. The taste opens with a sharp, crisp flavor of apples, fortunately lacking the artificial quality of the aroma. As the taste progresses, there are understated flavors of baked bread, and a hint of earthiness, in keeping with the wheat base of this beer. That being said, the apple flavor dominates the taste from start to finish. Late in the taste, there is a distinct flavor of apple rind, and a faint hop presence. The mouth feel is smooth, soft, and light bodied, with mild medium carbonation.

Purchased a 6-pack on the way back from playing a few US gigs. As always, hard to imagine A-B owns Shock Top, as these are pretty good summer fruit wheat beers. Pours a cloudy golden colour with high carbonation, creating a white head that stays a while and coats the top of the brew with a 3mm of foam. Smells like freshly squeezed apple juice with hints of spices. The taste is sweet, but not as much as the nose gives out to be. It does have this apple crisp taste with the apples and spices. All nicely balanced with the Belgian yeast, wheat and hops. Almost creamy mouthfeel. I like this one, but could probably not drink too many in a row as it is sweeter then most fruit beers.

Highly drinkable, great apple taste. I don't care who made the beer, it's good, it's refreshing and there's no noticeable flaws with the beer. It's probably one of the best apple beers available, and gives Shipyard a run for it's money. -

I could see how this would be better pairing with food....but drinking on it's own doesn't do much for me. Actually reminds me more of a cider than beer. Semi-cloudy pale yellow appearance...light orange tint. Aroma of apples and cinnamon. Flavor overwhelms of apple juice, so hard to taste the "beer" traits. Not bad though, good for spring/summer...not something I wouldn't get again.

Free bottle from Q Dawg. Orangey golden color, slightly hazy, bubbly short white head, no lacing. Sweet apple and wheat malty aroma, a bit of citrus zest and spices, more of a Red Delicious nose with weak Belgian yeasts. Taste is a tad stale of the apple and wheat & Belgian yeasts, with a weird, slightly unpleasant aftertaste/linger. Side note: I am forever ruined on any apple flavored beer after trying New Glarus Apple Ale and my reviews shall reflect my comparisons to that beer in particular. Just sayin'.

A dull orange colored beer with absolutely no head and thus no lacing to speak of. The nose is sweet apple. The taste an apple cider with a wheat backdrop. Cider crisp and effervescent.

This is a great tasting beer that reminds me of cider beer. It's aroma is very pleasing and almost mirrors the taste. A much sweeter beer than I am used to but it would be perfect for the person who loves fruity-tasting beer. I enjoyed this beer paired with grilled pork chops and grilled caramel apples. Delish! And, the Belgium flavor is always a favorite with me!

Based on the aroma alone, which is an explosion of juicy apple and a little spice, this is easily the best Shock Top to date. Faint praise, perhaps, but still... The body and look are typically light and efervescent. The flavor is nice, though not as good as the aroma. Not much depth, but not bad either.
