Pours an opaque, strongly reddish mahogany with a fine-bubbled pinkish head. Scent of cherries dominates the the malty aroma. Flavor is almost too sweet, mainly cherry with an undertone of malt. Mouthfeel is smooth and pleasing, and aftertaste is mainly sweet but not cloying with hints of hops.

A rich mahogany colored beer with a big sudsy, light tan head rising above. There's some hang time on the head. A moderate ringlet is left. A thin ringlet and persistent cap is left. In nose and tasting cherry is pleasantly present. Creamy bodied beer.

Open it and it pours out blood red. The smell is like cherry Hi-C and the first drink will give you a shock to the pallet. I was expecting a beer not a malt flavored fruit juice. The mouthfeel is just a little sour but fun to drink. This is more like a cider than a beer but quite tastey

Dark ruby pour with a weak pink head. Tart cherry aroma. Taste is not quite as tart--sweeter cherries along with some candi sugar, Belgian yeast notes and an underlying malt sweetness. Made for the perfect dessert but much too expensive to get on a regular basis.

Nice ruby color, with off-white lasting foam head. Taste is fruity with some wallnut far away, creamy. Bit high on carbon, nice lasting taste. Unfortunately I am not too fond on these sweet fruit beers, but it's a good one.

The dark, rich red color is enticing. I enjoyed this in the appropriate glass, and found that the longer I sipped at it (NOT a guzzling beer), the more the flavors began to open up, like a wine. With each sip, I enjoyed the complex flavor of the cherries even more. It was an interesting and refreshing change of pace:)

My goodness this is wonderful...An amber brown pour with a heavy light pink/tan head and splotchy lacing. Lightly roasted malt with some candi sugar followed by loads of fresh, tart cherries. Sweet and rich with a very easy drinkability. Magically delicious.

Pours dark red with a decent head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is cherries. Flavor is cherry as well, but...a little reminiscent for me of cherry flavored medicine which psychologically probably doesn't help me like it. A little sweet, a little off but I will keep trying to like it.

Bottle, at the Manneke Pis, Tenerife, as Kasteel Rouge. Served with correct glass. ABV 8%. Dark red colour, nearly black in the glass. Low and short-lived pink head. Strong aroma of preserved cherries. Lovely flavour of preserved cherries and malts.

750ml bottle, bottled on 11/27/07 - cork dated 3/08. Pours a murky brownish red (almost plum) with a very small fizzy head that quickly goes to a thin collar that leaves little lacing.
The aroma is subdued - sweet cherries and musty wood.
The flavor is sweet sugary cherries with some tart sourness in the finish. There's some woody malt balance, but the sweetness is a bit cloying. The mouthfeel is medium to full with spritzy carbonation.
Overall, a nice fruit beer. Reminds me a lot of a poor man's New Glarus Belgian Red. It's overly sweet and cloying and needs more balance. I remember liking this a little more on tap.
