In Greek mythology, Aphrodite rises from the foam of the waves of the sea, enchanting all who see her, and inciting thoughts of love and lust where ever she goes. We could hardly say it more eloquently. Our Limited Edition Aphrodite Ale is ethereal, intriguing and mysterious – as the Goddess Aphrodite must have been. Aphrodite has champagne-like carbonation, much as the foam of the waves of the sea. Plus enchanting flavors with whispers of raspberry and pear, and hints of funk and tartness created by the Brett yeast. The refreshing dryness comes from the unusual combination of Ommegang and Brett yeasts, and incites feelings of love and thirst, though we don’t know about lust. Grains of paradise are infused into the nectar, and when poured Aphrodite is crowned with a luxuriously shimmering rose-pink head. Ommegang Aphrodite: Ommegang Limited Edition Ale Belgian-style fruit beer with Brett yeast Malts: Pils and carapils Hops: Celeia Fermentation: Ommegang house & Brett yeasts Spices: Grains of paradise Fruit: Natural raspberry & pear juices OG: 14.5 FG: 2.8 ABV: 8.9% IBU: 19

The Mighty Aphrodite! from one of my favorite breweries... Clearish pink rose pour with a bubbly white head, some lacing, great carbonation. Tart, funky, sour aroma, sweet from the pear and raspberries which are noticeable but not at all overwhelming, cherries, Brett presence, pleasant overall nose. TART, very tart right away with the flavor, then quickly subtle sweetness, fruity and rich, fruit flavors of cherries and raspberries, and underlying pears and apples, nice Brett funky/tart/sour presence too. Very nice and refreshing. Not for the faint of heart as it is a tart monster, but take a chance, let it warm just a bit and the fruits shine through brilliantly.

Pours like pink champagne with a pink fizzy head. Lots of fruity aroma jump out from the glass, almost apple juice like but not cidery at all. Flavor is like a super dry cranberry juice, no sweetness but all the flavor. Crisp dry tart finish, goes great with fish or on its own.

Pours a beautiful clear mahogany with a thick and rather persistent pale tan head. Strong aroma has a sweet fruity overtone that is mainly raspberry with apple and cherry hints. Fruity flavor has a firm underpinning of malt so it tastes like a beer rather than a cider. It is on the sweet side - then again, it is named after the Greek goddess of love. Full-bodied texture has plenty of fizz and leaves a nice fruity tingle. Pucker up!

pours apinkish ruby red w/pink foam. lively carbonation, but the feel mellows as it sits. the raspberry somes out as it warms too. aroma is sharp raspberry with a touch o funk. flvor musty raspberry, slightly sweet, very tart. the brett is a background player, but there. dry finish. very good beer, it would be interesting to see how this develops over time. quite drinkable...1st 750 i've had to myself in quite a while.

Pours fuzzy pink red with a decent bubbly head that dissipates down to a white foam ring. Aroma is tart. Mouthfeel is tart. Flavor is super tart berry. Fun to try.

One of the reddish colored beers I'm come across to date. A pink, frothy texture head rises robustly above. There's great hang time on that head. It settles eventually into a thick ringlet. A light berry-fruit nose. A musty sweetness in the tasting. Light and effervescent. This is another home run from a very good brewery.
