Our Saranac Roggen Bock (Rye Bock) is brewed in the tradition of the great German Bock beers. A rich red lager brewed with only German malts and hops. We've added a twist by using 20% rye malt to give it a distinctive spicy, yet smooth character. You'll love the rich flavors and deep red color of this unique German style brew. Prosit!

Rye is usually used in ales rather than lagers so this is a pleasant surprise. An Indian red pour with a thin tan coloured head. Aroma is malt, some floral hops and a spicu character. Flavour is dry-ish with a sweet malt backbone giving way to a bitter finish.

Very dark amber coloring. The head is thin and white. The aroma is very malty with some caramel and maple. The mouthfeel is light and playful. That helps to make it lvery drinkable. The taste has a nice malty character with some dry apple. Also a hint if dark bread. A nice session style brew.

Good ol' nstallmaster came through again, thanks. Okay, lets review. The aroma is very malty and a bit sweet with some spicy characteristics. The appearance is a nice, slightly dark amber with not much of a head but off-white, tan lacing. The mouthfeel is light to medium in body with much malt complexity with not much hops present. The flavor is of malt and some spice and slightly sweet and pretty refreshing and rather smooth. Overall, not a bad beer and very malty which is not my favorite but this beer still is smooth and refreshing and not bad but I am not convinced I could drink it in long settings. Futhermore, it is slightly robust and this is good.

12 oz bottle, from a mixed 12 pack. Beautiful red-brown, crystal clear, with an awesome tan head. Malty aroma. I highly recommend this ale. I think they should consider adding Roggen Bock to the year-round lineup, instead of making us wait for winter.

Pours with a dark amber to light brown hue, medium white head and malty/ sweet scent. Mouthfeel is medium to very slightly heavy. Flavor is decidely malty with a little bit of bock sweetness peeking through. I like this brew.

Poured a caramel color with a thin, off white head. Aroma of caramel, light rye and dough. Lightly sweet taste, more rye, and toasted doughy malt, with mild carbonation. Not the best rye beer I have had.

Pours a rather pretty amber-brown color, with great head retention, and pretty good lace. Aroma is decidedly malty, with a grainy scent that I can't quite place (must be the rye). Mouthfeel is above average in fullness, especially for a lager style beer. Flavor begins with an aged, woody profile, carrying that into the body, and finishes dry, with a lingering hop bitterness. Not too bad, but not my favorite from them.

Good looking beer. Poured a red amber with a frothy head. Mild ,smooth flavor. Hits of sicy hops and rye. It wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked

Pours a dark amber almost red color with a thin head. Aroma is lightly sweet, without much going on. Mouthfeel is very smooth and thin, and a bit watery. Flavor starts mildly sweet and rye like spicy, then turns dry and lightly bitter. Not bad, but I thin it could have benefited from some stronger flavors.

Much better than I thought it would be. Deep amber color, thick off-white head and lots of lace on the glass. Strong malts up front, a little spicy, and sugary sweet with a somewhat sour aftertaste.
