This traditional style German wheat beer remains unfiltered to preserve its natural smooth flavor and aroma. Don't be alarmed by its cloudy apperance or noticable sediment. The slight banana and clove aroma comes from authentic German Hefeweizen yeast. Crafted from winter wheat, two-row malt with Mittelfrueh and Tettnang hops. It has a light and refreshing finish

Aroma is yeasty and wheaty with a lemon underpinning, typical but enjoyable. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a nice ivory head. Wheaty flavor has a yeasty and citrus underpinning - plus a hint of, is that cherry, or just my imagination running away with me? Smooth texture has average fizz and thickness. Perfect for summer - or early autumn - or any damn time of year you please.

Pours a lightly cloudy, darkish, dull orange-hued body with an ultra thin, white head that's gone in seconds and leaves no lace. The aroma has some malted wheat, some raw grain, some banana, some clove. The taste is lightly grainy, malted wheat with a low level of sweetness. Powdered sugar atop stale bananas. Pop of clove spiciness, which is the predominate taste. The mouthfeel is Medium to light body with medium carbonation.

It pours a light amber and burnt-orange with a thin white head and some lacing. An aroma of wheat malts, orange and citrus, peach and apricot, bread and yeast, and choice spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of wheat malts, hops, orange and citrus blend, banana, light peach, and spiciness. Excellent!!

Saranac's Hefeweizen has a cloudy golden color with a thin foamy head. The aroma of banana is very strong. There is also a hint of spice and wheat in the aroma as well. Its flavor is mostly sweet with very little hop presence. There is a heavy dose of banana and lemon flavors along with a wheat malt base and some spicy clove. All of this is wrapped up in a medium body with a smooth texture and a mild carbonation. Another solid offering from Saranac.

Limited Release, ohh-ahh...well not quite rather sluggish and more like boo-blah. Similar appearance to many of their other brews, it's copper (no yeast cloudiness), with a decent white head, and little to no lacing. Decent yet unimpressive scent of dry wheat and banana, I can dig it for a good aroma. Mouth feel hurts as it is tacky and thin with a rough aftertaste. I found the flavor not to shabby at first as I could detect some crisp wheat with an ever so faint hop presence along with a good dose of banana. Actually the banana was very reminiscent of the banana popsicle that came in the variety pack back in the day. Then.....this one takes a quick dive, thin then slightly annoying the flavor lost all interest. This was the last of the Summer Sampler, which started off so good then fizzled just like this offering along with their Belgian White.

I couldn’t wait to taste this being so familiar with the Saranac types since the first days of my tasting before ratebeer.com. Strongish ale taste. A little acidness. Smell is quite wheaty and hefe like. Decent carbonation. Industrial medium back of throat bitterness builds with each drink. Some gunk on the bottom, surprised but this puts on a very good aesthetic display on the pour. Swirling and beautiful. Finish turns just a little watery. This does not posses any of the Saranac flavors that I have encountered with their other varieties.

Pretty average Hefe. Only slightly cloudy with no residue in the bottle typical of better Hefe's. Light bodied and drinkable but certainly nothing memorable.

I remember enjoying this beer a lot. I had this beer as a part of a variety pack. It was typical of a Hefeweizen and Saranac did a nice job keeping to this standard. Give it a whirl in the summer.

Bottle: Poured a orange-gold lightly hazed ale in the glass. Small 1 finger cap. ..a poor looking hefe. The nose made up for the bad looks: Light understated aromas of clove and some bubble gum, light mustiness Taste was the vindication for such a poor looking Hefe...sweet, bready and dry up front... light peppering of the tongue from carbonation, a timely appearance of heffe banana-spice and bubble gum tones mid palate, then a fast drop off for a clean dry finish with no after tastes...weird but OK for a commercial Hefe and I have tasted much worse from Germany. Would be on-par with Hacker-Pschorr HW if it were not for the weak heading this beer displays.

My third brew from the Saranac Summer sampler-pack and go figure, it is yet another wheat beer. The aroma on this creation is doughey with some slight cloves and spice as well as banana overtones and is sweet to some extent. The appearance is a cloudy golden-yellow with a very nice and frothy head on top that has nice retention and is very bubbly and carbonated and white in color. The mouthfeel is light-bodied and crisp with nice fruity complexity as well as balance with a smooth and creamy palate. The flavor is typical to the style with cloves, banana, and spice with an aftertaste that is very fruity and and a finish that is very good and very wet-like. Overall, probably the best brew from this Summer mixer pack so far but I still have two more to give a shot; recommended.
